Yep, it's true... I and a friend were demonstrating good mosh pit technique at Youth Club, and as we jumped at each other (from a fast run) I got full on elbowed in the chest. This guy is a talented sports player, and built pretty solidly, so it hurt. A lot. I'm pretty good with pain, and ignored it. A week later, it was still hurting to I popped over to A&E and apparently I have cracked one of my ribs!

So there I was walking around with a broken ribcage for a week without even knowing... I feel like I'm in one of Rodeo's stories or something. Anyways I now have an excuse for mooching around all day and watching movies. (Not that I needed one!) Curse my showing off nature!!

BTW, this isn't me I just thought it was funny. ;)

Really? Wow...er, you sure there isn't anything else out there you don't know you have? He he.

Is it better now, or are you on the meds?

On painkillers but that's it. I have been told to take it very easy and not lift too many heavy things.

On the plus side, this makes it a lot easier to win the Contest as it's on the right side of my chest, and I generally use my right hand and the pain of the movement would... well, you get the idea. ;)

Hah, I know what you mean. I had to take a bath one-handed today. It's a feat worthy of Jesus himself!

Jesus took one-handed baths? Amazing. Didn't know that. Is there anything that man can't do?

Tiste, that's why I don't mosh. I'm not a big guy (170cm or so) so I get knocked around a bit when I do, and the pain takes the fun out of it. I was watching an ep of Rock 'n' Roll Acid Test (it's a Mytbusters-esque show about rock myths, like did Ozzy really snort ants?), and they tested the forces inherent in a real moshpit, and they can crush people's ribcages if there is enough people. It's worse if you're at the front of the pit. Apparently the forces are comparable to those in a car crash, and sometimes greater. Crazy stuff.

I have to watch this show! It's funny because I have been in some extremely mental mosh pits (including a wall of death in a Dragonforce concert, if you can believe it, and a big jig pit to a violin solo at a Turisas gig!) and never had pain like this... I think it's cos we had a good long run up and a jump. I am a big guy, and can hold my own in a circle pit, but I think the fact that it was at speed and all the other guys force was put into his elbow and the contact it made with my rib cage...

Heh, it's a great story to tell people anyways. ;)

Oh, I love Turisas. They're amazing. Fans of Dragonforce's studio work, but I heard they were abysmal live. Can't even play their own songs or something. Anyway.

It's a great story to tell.

The best part is I have a concerned and rather stunning lady friend on her way over to pamper me for the afternoon. Definitely going to play the cool, nonchalant, injured warrior card. ;)

Dragonforce actually better live than on CD, but then I don't like Dragonforce that much. They played pretty well when I saw them, but the only reason I was there was because Turisas were opening for them. Turisas were way better in every way, seen them twice, dressed as a viking with warpaint for one of them. :p

Haha playing the injury card...well, it has worked in the past. Good luck to you lol.

Viking and warpaint? I can't say I would ever go to those lengths at a Turisas concert...largely because I'm small and would look like a child viking with low upper body tone lol. Most I would do is a band shirt. I'm too lazy for anything grander as well. Kudos to you though. Pictures?

Random: "Why'd you do it?"
Tiste: "Well, there were these hot MILFs at the youth club where we were at, and I really wanted to impress them. They looked kinda cougar-ish, right. So I thought, 'we're moshing. Let's seriously bust heads! That'll impress 'em. Women like tough guys, you know?' So, yeah, then I shattered my rib."
Random: *walks away*

Oh, snap.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Soory to hear about the cracked rib Tiste! It would seem we here at malaz boards are on quite the roll when it comes to breaking bones lately! So did you take those sword fighting pictures while you had this cracked rib? I only ask because some of those poses must have hurt like a bitch with your rib the way it is atm. Ouch!

heh. once cracked my ribs in a kickboxing competition.

didn't actually realise till i rolled over in bed the next morning (still half asleep/dozing) and heard a cracking noise.

then an intensely sharp shooting pain through my sides woke me completely up, and i trundled off to the hospital for
x-rays.

Same deal as Tiste, nothing given to me but painkillers.
bloody quacks.
meh. Link was dead :(
