Indeed. I did it thinking it would be like an opposite of the DB quest line where you take out members and it would be somewhat cool. But it is literally, "this is where the hideout is, kill everyone". Pretty damn boring actually.

I was around level 60 when i did and it was pretty damn easy.

The loots not all that spectacular either.

If i had to do it again i'd have just joined the DB.
I've always been crazy but its kept me from going insane.

Wow, Nightingale armor is NICE.

Seriously, the DB should have something more like this. It's not got as high an armor rating as my previous gear, even though I upgraded it to Legendary straight away, but it still looks way better than anything else so far.

The Nightingale blade is pretty good too.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Have you got the ebony mail from the Boethea (sp?) quest? That looks like some nice heavy armor - it also sort of 'smokes' while sneaking.

Does anyone know if you can add another enchantment to an already enchanted/magical item when you get the 'put two enchantments on an item' perk at the top of the tree? Or can you only put two on a new item as you enchant it?

I'll be able to tell you soon, I'm nearly there with the enchanting. Finally got some Dragon Scale to play around with - two enchantments on each item, fully upgraded, should make a pretty good set, even if it doesn't look quite how I expected it to.

What's the limit on upgrades though? When I go to upgrade armor, even at legendary, it still lets me add even more to it if I have the right material, even though the name doesn't change. My Nightingale armor is really pretty decent now, esp with the Light Armor perks.

How do you kit out your followers in better armor? I've put it into their inventory, but so far they're not wearing it, even though it's just an upgraded version of their current stuff.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

You can upgrade each time your smithing is higher than it was when you made the item, be that by skill or by effects from items.

I bought the Xbox 360 version of Skyrim yesterday for the stepdaughter. She started it this morning and loves it. Should keep her out of my hair for a few weeks. :)

Remove everything else from their inventory?
I have noted some odd changes, for example, followers choosing cloth hats over legendary dwarf plate... it may have to do with your followers' strength/ specialisms... for example, whatsherface, the first follower, is apparently sneak-skilled and not a heavy armor-adept.

Anyone else find it weird that it's way cheaper to buy a full set of elven armor than to buy the crafting components?

Found an awesome heavy shield of blocking, then disenchanted and tried to re-enchant my light elven shield, but it won't let me use my higher level soul gems on it. Do I need to get crafting to a certain point to use higher level gems?

What does it say when you try it? I never had a problem using grand souls at lower levels - you should be able to enchant a shield that has had nothing else done to it. Some enchantments don't work on certain items, and you need the right perks, but I don't think it's the soul gems.. unless it lets you use the lesser ones but not the others?

I may not bother with the followers much anyway, they just seem to get in the way and blow my cover by running ahead, setting off traps and yelling.

That's what I mean. I can use up to a common soul gem in an enchant, but the greater and super awesome level soul gems are unavailable to select.

Trav. Get or make rings, necklaces, circlets, and various armor pieces of Smithing if you really want to fuck shit up getting that armor rating high.


Have done - got a whole set of Smithing gear for just that. Combined with a potion, it's proving effective at producing nice Legendary stuff.

Just got the Ebony mail, which really does look great - and it smokes and turns black when you sneak, too! (Looks better with Nightingale armor items than other ebony ones though).

Just remember to take it off when you're punching people in brawls. Trust me on this.

You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

It has a short range damage aura, yes.
