Just saw a link to a trailer for the new Judge Dredd movie. Looks like it'll be a stinker.

edit: (Removed link to youtube clip cos it was quickly blocked by Lionsgate)

Basically it looks like a rip-off of The Raid.

Wut?

I can't even remotely fathom how you could say "it looks to be a stinker"

It looks fucking hardcore, Dredd how he's meant to be.

Because i am prone to making snap judgements when it comes to movies, and this looks like another BORING action movie, where lots of things blow up but i'm never really bothered cos the story is so pedestrian. And that's what this trailer looks like to me.

This trailer, which should pique your interest, nearly put me to sleep. So that's why I think it'll be a stinker.

And while not always true with action movies, usually there will be some excitement and encouraging noises coming in advance if it's likely to be any good. This was the first whisper of it i had even heard of.

So there, snap judgement made. Film crap. I will hopefully be proven wrong as i quite enjoyed the comics as a kid.

Understood. Thanks for the explanation. I hope it's not boring myself. :headbang:

It's up formally on IGN.

It looks decent, but to my mind Mega-City 1 looks too clean and not crowded and grotesque enough.

Also, it does look very much like The Raid with Judges, but then, The Raid was just The Horde without zombies...

Came across this link a few mins ago and it has me hopeful of a decent sequel on the way.
http://m.ie.ign.com/...taken-2-trailer

I was wondering how they had planned to make a sequel to TAKEN without it seeming totally ludicrous, and they seem to have hit on a decent premise, simple revenge. The setting of Istanbul, and the style of the action sequences made me think immediately of the Bourne Supremacy set-pieces in Tangiers (though not as shaky with the camera).

I'm hoping for more straightforward Liam Neeson taking of names and then kicking ass.

Haven't seen Raid but this trailer makes the movie look... well, boring. It seems that most of the footage is of some prolonged attempt to get some super drug dealer out of an apartment building and that is about it. A cool enough idea for a comic book issue but a boring premise for an entire movie. Hopefully there is more to the film than what they show in this clip. It would be pretty funny if the Stalone version turned out to be better.

I've never read the Dredd comics except for a few issues, but I agree that the entire look of the film seems too fluffy and clean compared to what I envision the world of the Mega City like.

Also did they just show the god damn ending in the trailer? Was it the boss they showed being judged and thrown through the window? If it was I am going to go to Hollywood and forcefeed a film reel to the guy who okayed this trailer.

OMG TAKEN 2!!! (I said in a girlish scream of joy when I saw this trailer)

I didn't know they were making a sequel. I absolutely loved Taken one, maybe my favorite Neeson film, so this is great. As long as they keep it as no nonsense and aggressive as the first one I will be a happy man. I like that they found a way to tie the story of the second together with the first film.

Did you see and like Crank or Crank 2?

The Raid is much grittier and darker, but the pacing of the action is basically akin to that of Crank 2 - narrow focus on fighting with little extraneous stuff. Very good movie.

If you like Taken for its no-nonsense aggression then you really really need to see The Raid.

Oh fuck me....I had NO IDEA they were even MAKING a sequel to TAKEN....I fucking LOVED TAKEN....probably one of my fave action films of all time. Goddamn! Thanks Binder, have rep!

Also, my friend just referred to it as "Liam Neeson Throat Punches His Way Across Paris 2" and I support that title.

In the preview scenes, it seemed like the actor was doing his "Christian Bale as Batman" impression. Now that I think about it, isn't the Judge Dredd character basically just Batman from the future? Anyway, I was disappointed to be able to understand the dialogue. Bring back ol' cottonball mouth!

Finally finally saw RIDDICK: DARK FURY. Pure animated awesome. Why, oh WHY, OH WHY THE FUCK have they not made a dozen of these????

Was then forced (perhaps in retaliation) to view TWILIGHT: BREAKING YAWN PART 1. S'ok, i needed the nap. Even the vamp vs werewolf action was lame this time.

Based on this information, we can now deduce that you are either:

A) The father of a 13 year old girl
B ) Being held against your will by a sado massochistic freak that is forcing you to perform painful and demeaning acts In a loving relationship between equals that respect each others needs and desires

Not seeing the difference here.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Am I the only one who would expect Riddick to step out of his movie, and into Twilight just so he can join Blade and Buffy in taking out the Twilight cast in gory ways?
