Here's an interesting article about the evolution of the cinematic fight scene, complete with clips.

Watching Batman begins, still great. I love the "how theey got started" type movies, which is why I'm pumped for the Wolverine movie.

Watched eastern promises last night

I was underwhelmed by it...

it was ok, but not as good as I had hoped and the nude male steam fight was completely unnecessary....

The nude fight was the best bit in the whole movie! I loved it!

It was one of my favorite movies from last year, and that scene was sow bad ass. He's naked yet still kills two dudes. Awesome.

Yes the fight was bad ass I will give it that, and realistic (ish) at least it looked to me

but there was so much man junk that it was distracting and and and I cant think of anything else...

it was unnecessary... :grrm:

I liked the movie. It wasn't the best thing I've ever seen, but as a gangster movies it was just fine. It's always nice to see a gangster movie that isn't about italians.

Of course, I love those movies, I'm just saying that by now, the italian mob has been a little overdone.

Had a bit of a movie-fest, hehe...

Hancock - I enjoyed it. Good for what it is, a fun take on the superhero genre. Pretty cool effects and some funny moments. Made me smile.

Wanted - I liked this too...wasn't sure if I would, given all the mixed reviews. It was good, trashy action fun...some of the shit was just a little too far-fetched for its own good though, I think.

X-Files: I want to Believe - Oh my God, this is a bit of a stinker. Incredibly corny plot and hammy acting/writing. Still didn't hate it...

Tim Burton's filming his new film, an adaptation of Alice in Wonderland (the inevitable Depp role is rumoured to be the Mad Hatter) down here in Plymouth, and is recruiting for extras next Wednesday and Thursday. I think I'll go for it.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

You'd fit in great in Wonderland, Illy! Take a carcinogenic shirt with you.

They're actually supplying Victorian era clothing at the casting. I'll just have to settle for something less abrasive.

No, I don't believe me either.

Do they make Victorian clothing with a Hawaiian print?

I just watched Kung Fu Panda - I thought it was really good fun...had me smiling the whole time. As others have said, it's definitely worth checking out.

I might be sold on the panda. I've heard enough good things that I think I'll watch it.

HellBoy II: The Golden Army is really good. I'm surprised they took that tack with the bad guy, but it absolutely worked and Guillermo del Toro is a genius. It's better than the first movie.

Everyone in the old, cramped theater I saw it in loved it. There were some eight year olds celebrating a birthday and their grandpa was laughing right along with them (and at the irony and subtle stuff they didn't get 'cause they're too young). As awesome as the action scenes were and as funny as some of the scenes were, the overall themes of the movie were rather moving and sad. Rather Erikson-like, actually.

I highly recommend it.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

Do, it is a good flick. I fell for it along with the kids, the fights are awesome.

Just watched HellBoy II and it was great as well. There were [quite] a few predictable parts but they didn't take away from the good at all.
