Do you think this movie is any good? I've heard from several peeps that it's nothing but a bunch of cool images with no discernible plot/focus/point. A futuristic pile of eccentricity (read fail). I'll probably give it a shot, but from every thing I've heard, and it's currently playing at the campus theater, it isn't worth the effort; nothing is resolved, nothing is explained, nothing makes any sense. A lot of unrealized potential. The general consensus, here at least, is that it entices but leaves one befuddled.

For a second there I thought you were talking about "Spun".

Are you suggesting my friends are meth addicts? Hmm?
Spun was funny/sad...just 'cause I know people that wasted their brains on a drug that consists of cold medicine, battery acid and fertilizer.

I watched Black Snake Moan and Wark Hard tonight. BSM was good, but made me feel dirty to watch it. Walk hard was funnier than I was expecting.

Walk Hard is great! I love that movie.
Although the end was drawn out. I think it should have ended on a different note.

I was expecting it to be pretty bad. i didn't realize it was an Apatow movie, which would have gotten me to see it sooner.

You know on the second watch through, I liked it even more...
that being said, it is a very, very, very strange movie...
You would never ever ever guess the ending even half way through the movie...
I think you should watch it... It might not be your style and you will hate it, but I can guarantee it wont be a waste of time... its thought provoking...
It does have a plot and the story all comes together(ish) at the end. I would say see it, if for nothing else its originality and strangeness...
It’s a fun movie to watch.

I just watched In Her Shoes on tv. Total chick flick and I watched it on the sofa, in my pyjamas, eating ice cream and I cried at the end
Sometimes it's fun to be cliche. Still, it was pretty good as chick flicks go and if a woman ever presses one of you chaps into watching it, be assured that Cameron Diaz spends most of the movie half naked. Man, she's got a nice ass. Bitch.

I watched 10,000 BC today. I was expecting epic fail, based on the rash of reviews that said it was nearly unwatchable, but I liked it well enough. It was fairly standard Hollywood fare. Not gonna win any awards, sure, but it's not an awful way to spend 100 minutes.

Saw The Oxford Murders with John Hurt and Elijah Wood at the weekend.
First, Id like to say that the premise was very good, and teh book is probably excellent. Secondly, I now understand why elijah's second name is "Wood", as his acting performance would have felt more at home in a pine furniture shop.
To be fair, it may have had something to do with the script, which felt as if someone had taken the book, and rather than adapting it to make it film length, had simply cut out chapters with no explanation, and translated it badly from the Spanish.
The whole plot seemd in the film to take place over just a few days, but you got the sense it wouldve been better suited to months, and well could have been supposed to be months, but you couldnt tell. There was a woman in it who seemd to have absolutely nothing to do with much, was reeeally easy, and agreed to run away with Woody having met him, ooh, twice?
Although she did have a magnificent set of bristols. Which were bared needlessly and wonderfully in an almost comical sex scene. All I'll say is, spaghetti bolognese is not my personal choice of sex aid, but whatever takes your fancy.
Anyways, good ending and idea, but not brilliant overall, pretty much due to a lazy script.

I also saw The Oxford Murders on saturday, and I came to the following conclutions:
a) Bad Acting. John Hurt was the single high note on that front. The rest of the actors were simply awful. Wooden spoon was hotly contested between crazy foreign student and psycho blond girl.
Bad Scripting. Random deeply meaningful conversations spring up from nowhere between two characters that have never met before. Forgivable once, not when it happens every 84 seconds.
c) Bad Production. Two or three of the scenes, the sound wasn't even in sync!
d) Bad Directing. Needless repetetiveness, some awful scene setups, painfully obvious plot giveaways.
So, in conclution, bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad. Though at least the main girl was fairly gorgeous. In and out of clothes:p

Ah, so it was out of sync!
I just figured it was the particular screening I was at, as the sound also fucked up at one point.
Yeah, that blonde woman (Beth?) was truly atrocious- she also had lopsided breasts/cleavage in most of the scenes she was in.
I also noticed John Hurt's speech at the beginning had a couple of flaws in it from a philosophical point of view (his conception of mathematics is way off according to my slight Kantian leanings), and there were plenty of other "meaningful" conversations that seemed completely irrelevant.
Also, when he shouted at the builders to stop- really? I mean, really?
The answer "fuck off!" should have come quickly.

I showed my naturity by bursting into laughter during the sex scene, for which I was elbowed in the ribs by an embarassed gf. But you try not to laugh when you see the "oh no I've spilled spahetti on your tits" scene.

Saw the new Harold and Kumar movie.
They didn't up the bar of the previous one, but it didn't lower any either. Really enjoyed it, as I did the first one.

In what can only be described as a campaign of self torture, I have been trying to watch Paris Hilton's The Hottie and the Nottie. It is probably the best example of shit-turned to-film one is ever likely to find. Small doses keep me from stabbing myself in the heart with a butter knife.
I'd still bone Paris Hilton... albeit with a garbage bag for a condom and a borrowed dick.
