Watched Eagle vs Shark yesterday, some New Zealandish film with the guy Jemaine from Flight of the Conchords in it. Was really funny, and very odd. Culminates in him trying to beat up a cripple. Good stuff.

Seeing that Eragon was written by a 12/13 yr old author and tbh we are mostly fantasy snobs in this forum it was never gonna be the dogs bollocks, but both my 5yr old dauther and my 12 yr old son liked it and it kept them entertained

He seems to get younger each time someone talks about him writing the book ...

I like the idea of a twelve year old writting a novel, he'd have to be one very ambitious, and probably very very lonely child, if he'd made that book :(

A little off topic but:

@ Trouble, I'm not sure you planned it that way but part of your sig looks like a line from a Donna Summers song. This makes your whole "Jumpers in a ST cotinuum" part look even more cooky as I'm imagining Samuel L. "The Meanest Motherfucker Around" Jackson singing Donna Summers while kicking the living daylights out of Anakin Skywalker.
Which I must say holds a kind of perplexing charm and has cheered me up immensly.

I saw Fifth Element and Chronicles of Riddick on the sci-fi season on Film4 yesterday. The former being far superior to the latter.

They've got Fantastic Four on tonight too, which will be a laugh (intersperced by moments of Alba-lust).

fuck that... the guy just borrowed elements from like 10 different fantasy novels... wackness....

1.Dragonriders who can talk telepathically with their "riders"
2. Dragons who bond emotionally and physically and mentally with riders-
3. farmer boy is the chosen one- not even going to try to list similarities.
4. Chosen one is the savior of a group of people
5. Chosen one has powers which he did not know of.
6. Chosen one is the only one who can defeat the evil one/bad guy.
7. It is the Chosen ones destiny to win over the forces of evil.
8. Farm boy meats up with an older father like man/teacher.
9. Farm boy falls in love with damsel at first sight. She does the same with farm boy
10. Farm boy grows into leader/savior

I was going to try and list all the books/movies that were ripped off but that would require too much effort. At a glance a major plot of Anne McCaffrey’s Dragon Riders of Pern was ripped off (the whole dragon/rider relationship and bond). I also see elements of Robert Jordon and Tolkien. Its like this kid just combined all his favorite fantasy novels into one even more cliché book.

You are so right...

Let's compare it with the original Star Wars (I put this into a spoiler-box if someone hasn't suffered the movie/novel yet):

Spoiler

Very original, I have to admit...

@Kalahinen - No way. Never thought about that!!

Saw the animated movie "Heavy Metal" last night. Some pretty impressive animated scenes, some rubbish voice acting and LOADS of boobs. I mean, loads of them, in just about every story.

Still it was a pretty good fun film, and it had a great soundtrack!

In an unprecedented fit of gayness, I watched P.S. I Love You. I laughed. I cried. My penis turned into a vagina...

Seriously, if you value your eyeballs don't watch this movie.

Animated boobs. Although, to be fair to the film, they were all massive. :o

Yeah it's all taken from that film. In fact, there are a lot of moments in the South Park movie that are very faithful to the film. Including the song that is in the background. It was amusing to see both in the same week. :o

Gonna watch the Futurama film now. :)

Freakin-A!!! The Futurama film "Benders Big Score" was so freaking funny! Firstly, it reminded me why people think that Matt Groening is a genius (something that The Simpsons Movie didn't do) and also reminded me why Bender is perhaps the funniest character in any TV show. :o
