@ ST:

Those are the Bussard ramscoop collectors. They're designed as hydrogen intakes when the ship requires deuterium for their impulse reactors or as matter for the Warpcore.
I'm guessing why they look like turbines (from a more reason based stand point) is that they're electromagnets that draw in the hydrogen using a magnetic field.
From a realistic stand point it's to stay in keeping with the Original Series where the Nacelles had spinning red fronts.

Either way I won't be missing that movie.

I loved "No Country for Old Men" and the book is equally awesome.

Cormac McCarthy's "The Road" is incredible as well...wonder if they could make that into a movie...

@ Darkwatch - I know how a Bussard Ramscoop is supposed to work (although there's some recent research I've read that says it probably wouldn't... Work, that is) and things that look like giant turbines (or indeed any kind of physical moving part) definitely ain't involved. Anyway saw the teaser trailer that image comes from last night, there was a lot of very 20th-Century-looking arc welding going on. Looks pretty though.

Wow, that looks incredible - I'm definitely going to look for that one, I don't think it's out in Australia yet though.

I liked the first hours and 45, the next half hour was dragging, and the last 15 was good.

The two others I went with fell asleep, but agreed it was wonderfully acted.
