Yeah I thought Ocean's 13 was pretty good, which surprised me after the I-stopped-watching-after-5-minutes-catastrophically bad Oceans 12.

Hot Fuzz - i havent laughed this hard in a movie in a long time. easily as good as shaun of the dead. it just kept getting better.

and that scene near the end with the old woman? oh. sweet. jesus. i nearly pissed myself lauging.

I also kept laughing, although I occasionally felt guilty for laughing so much... which, of course, didn't keep me from laughing even louder -_- .
That movie really made my weekend. Great. Simply - great.

I don't remember ocean's 12, although I have been told my multiple people that we went as a group and watched it. I still maintain they are trying to put one over on me.

Spoiler-laden list of problems with Die Hard 4 blagged from somewhere else.

Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

I saw Die Hard 4. Now, being a SFF fan, my disbelief-suspension muscles are well-developed. Still, I couldn't help but routinely think during the movie, "Oh, come on..."
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

TRANS-FOR-MERS - too much camera time spent on the annoying meat-bags, but ohmygod the robots were awesome.

but thats how that whole series works.... he lost more blood in die hard 1 than most people have in their bodys.... as long as it wasn't as bad as Transporter 2, I will go see it.

Recent dvd watches include:

Brokeback Mountain ~ I cried like a mother fudger for the last 20minutes
Seven Samurai ~ Not nearly as good as I'd been led to believe. I was quite disappointed.
Ran ~ Same as above.

Anyone a Kurosawa fan who can tell me what it is about those films that they like?

Exactly. You watch it because it's not believable!! Except that the Transporter 2 was pretty good fun... ;)

I saw Die Hard 4 this weekend. Up until the fighter jet, I thought it was brilliant. Brilliant in a completely mindless action way.

Spoiler

Not a patch on Die Hard 1, of course. Alan Rickman will never be beaten as an uber-baddy. Ho. Ho. Ho.

I also saw The Departed on dvd. My dislike of Leo's professional abilities thawed slightly during Blood Diamond. But I thought he was actually really really good in this movie. It's the first time I've ever been rooting for one of his characters to live to the end (and I even had a second look when he got his shirt off)! As for the movie itself, great build up, courtesy of Leo and Jacky carrying some cardboard cutout Scorsese characters. But it totally went for the easy option at the end. The build up deserved something smarter. I'd still recommend it.

Die Hard 4 was very entertaining.

I enjoyed the line when he was on the phone after the kung-fu scene.

Spoiler

I still maintain the fact that nothing in Die Hard 4 was as unbelievable as pretty much ALL of Transporter 2.

I caught the new Harry Potter flick. I really liked it. Much darker than the previous ones but still very good.

And fuck me rotten, Helena Bonham Carter is stupid hot. Even as a crazy witch bitch.

What about the so-called blackened teeth?
