I don't remember ocean's 12, although I have been told my multiple people that we went as a group and watched it. I still maintain they are trying to put one over on me.

TWENTY REASONS WHY LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD SUCKS

1.) No swears #1 - John McClane spends the entire movie calling people "jerkoffs" and "idiots"
2.) Justin Long is the whinest action sidekick in the history of action sidekicks
3.) Whereas previous Die Hard villains did their nefarious deeds either to cover up a massive theft or to cover up a terrorist act which in turn covered up a massive theft or at least compromised the loyalty of an entire squad of elite-anti-terrorist soldier people, the villains in Live Free Or Die Hard have no hidden agenda or brilliant secret component of the plan and are therefore lame
4.) Lack of John McTiernan direction telling as action scenes are cut to fuck and back
5.) CGI replacing actual stuntwork and explosions makes the movie seem much, much more fake than the other Die Hards
6.) "...and featuring Kevin Smith as a fat nerd!"
7.) Witticisms in this particular movie less than enthralling to say the least
8.) Justin Long's character argues that CCR was a bad band. Not Ram Jam or Golden Earring or Foghat or Grand Funk Railroad: Creedence Clearwater fucking Revival
9.) Timothy Olyphant does not have a moustache
10.) No swears #2: In the trailer they feature Bruce Willis saying his trademark "yippie ki yay, motherfucker" line but cutting off at the "m-" because you can't say "motherfucker" in a trailer - except it also gets cut out of the movie
11.) John McClane's daughter Lucy coolest part of entire movie because she is just like her father except young pretty and with nice tits; therefore, she is of course shoved mostly into damsel-in-distress mode
12.) When recounting the events of John McClane's life, villain inexplicably does not mention "oh, well, you killed a shitload of terrorists on multiple occasions"
13.) And neither does anybody else, which is really just retarded at this point; I mean, John McClane was a media sensation in Die Harder and now he's just a guy? He should reasonably by this point be a law enforcement legend
14.) Memorable nerdy villain does not get taken out in appropriately memorable way by nerd "hero" Justin Long, which would at least have been appropriate
15.) Die Hard movies previously made at least a reasonable attempt to portray what would realistically happen if one man (even one in good shape and with smarts) went up against a bunch of terrorists; in Live Free Or Die Hard John McClane fights a goddamn fighter jet and you feel the movie veering sharply into over-the-top Schwarzenepic territory
16.) Jokey reference to "Agent Johnson" in first third of movie makes you wish you were at home watching original Die Hard instead
17.) Multiple government building sets clearly recycled from "Alias"
18.) Spent most of movie thinking to self "Why didn't I just go see Ratatouille instead? I mean, it's Pixar, you know it'll at least be very good..."
19.) Death of the coolest villain in the movie (the one who uses parkour-styled martial arts) somewhat cribbed from Casey Jones offing Shredder in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
20.) No swears #3: Because it's a PG-13 movie, they are allowed to say "shit" once or twice over the course of the movie. Who gets to say shit? Not John McClane, but whiny-ass Justin "I'm a Mac!" Long

but thats how that whole series works.... he lost more blood in die hard 1 than most people have in their bodys.... as long as it wasn't as bad as Transporter 2, I will go see it.

I saw Die Hard 4 this weekend. Up until the fighter jet, I thought it was brilliant. Brilliant in a completely mindless action way.

I loved it when he just smacked the kung fu chick in the face. These movies usually have a girl-on-girl kung fu fest scene where the bad girl gets it in some kind of hideous way. But no, John McClane isn't above punching a woman in the face and then running them through a few walls.

Not a patch on Die Hard 1, of course. Alan Rickman will never be beaten as an uber-baddy. Ho. Ho. Ho.

I also saw The Departed on dvd. My dislike of Leo's professional abilities thawed slightly during Blood Diamond. But I thought he was actually really really good in this movie. It's the first time I've ever been rooting for one of his characters to live to the end (and I even had a second look when he got his shirt off)! As for the movie itself, great build up, courtesy of Leo and Jacky carrying some cardboard cutout Scorsese characters. But it totally went for the easy option at the end. The build up deserved something smarter. I'd still recommend it.
