Apparently this is a real movie. Made in 2022, shelved for a tax write off, then allowed to be distributed. I guess we'll see if that was the right decision or not.

The fact that Zaslav shelved this in one of his MANY stupid decisions when it was already long in the can, shows you that guy only cared about tax write-offs...and it works in Ketchup's favour now to be like "Acme/WB didn't want you to see this" and from a marketing angle that's genius!

Crazy stupid Love

Rewatched it with the wife there.

The 5 mins around the mini golf in the garden scene that ends in brawl is just genius

MICHAEL.

...the dance scenes were great.
It's otherwise a very safe version of the Michael Jackson story from earliest Jackson 5 to just after the Victory Tour. There are some interesting moments that were clearly adapted for drama, there is some drama that's just boring, there are some moments that are clearly there to deify Michael and downplay his eccentricities, and fine, we can all see it for what it is. Despite being a Jackson family effort the brothers are barely even there and the Janet erasure is kind of wild even if it was at her own demand.
But the dance scenes were great!

Most industry people who knew the guy said the film is 90% fiction, even accurate events are apparently highly fictionalized.

I have little interest in (despite liking some of the music) a film that plays him straight and not the decided weirdo he was IRL...like the man named his compound Neverland Ranch and kept a pet monkey that fucking HATED him. Like THAT is interesting...this is a whitewashed thing like the Queen "biopic" that was shit too.

Yes, Bohemian Rhapsody was so disappointing which was especially annoying as Rami Malek did a great job as Freddie.

It's like Oliver Stones THE DOORS...wildly afraid to make the actual story of the band because he was concerned it would not be interesting enough for the audience, so he vilifies Jim and puts in a bunch of shit that didn't happen even little bit, gave credence to an "affair" plotline with a journalist who IRL stalked Jim, claimed she was pregnant with his child (a lie), and who he wanted nothing to do with...like anyone who has read about the Doors knows that the real Jim was not like that at all...and having Val Kilmer absolutely NAIL his look and voice...such a waste in such a garbage character assassination movie.

As opposed to The Dirt which makes Motley Crue out to be pretty awful but they're quite proud of it haha

100% that, the Dirt nailed Motley Crue personally, naturally some of the antics (not that many) are blown out of proportion, the downside of The dirt is that the Crue revel in it.

It's one of those ridiculous family friendly movies that is entirely predictable and by-the-numbers and it's just so damn charming and cute and funny and earnest and well-executed that i couldn't help but enjoy it.

Btw, Kobna Holbroock-Smith, who narrates the RIVERS OF LONDON earbooks, is among the human actors.

Looks gorgeous. The books are 'pretty good' imo but absolutey ripe for adaption like this. IIRC, they follow the Star Wars formula where the first one is a solid standalone story while 2&3 are more like two halves of a follow-up.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Mortal Kombat 2 was a solid film, much better than I expected and an improvement on the first film.

If you enjoyed the first film then you will love this one. Recommended.

Heard mostly good things. I want to see it, but need to find the time.

When the theme music starts to kick in whilst the battles are going on, just some really cool moments.

You do not have to but I would rewatch the first one going into it if you do find the time.
