If you want to ruin some fond memories fire up the original MGS for the PSX, at the time I remember thinking the graphics were great, holy fuck they are not.

Game play is still ace though

Watched 3 films on the flight.

Downsizing : relatively unfunny as a comedy, a few decent belly laughs. But as a film I found it quite engaging. Once the Vietnamese actress got on screen (don't know her name) the film lifted for me, she did an excellent job, especially towards the end.
Waltz was funny in it, Damon a mixed batch

Watched Thor Ragnarok again, as enjoyable as the first time.

3 Billboards outside Epping Missouri, just fucking brilliant, and really solid performances across the board.

Started Molly's Game, only halfway in

Finished Molly's Game

'based on a true story' always makes me want to dig in and see how accurate it is, but I don't have the time or inclination right now.

Watchable, I'll give it that and not much more

Create massively oversized male characters then couple them with an impossibly fine boned female of the same species humanising her to cater to the weird male gaze of the gamer fans?

Now that you guys have covered Warcraft I'd just like to say that Top Gun sucks.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

That might be the most unpatriotic thing I've ever seen you post here on the forums.

Good god, Worry!

My sister teaches some media thingy course at the uni she lectures at. She was telling me that she had a section this semester on homoeroticism in 80s movies. She said her students didn't believe her so she had to pull out the Top Gun volleyball scene. They were totally on board after that :p

Counterpoint: TOP GUN is amazing still after all these years.

Another D&D film huh? Oh boy, how much alcohol am I going to need to get through this one?

Note: friend and I discovered the only way to enjoy the first godawful D&D film is to do so horrendously drunk. Jeremy Irons overacting is wonderful when you're extremely merry.

We didn't think our respective livers would stand up to attempting the second one!

Agreed. Jeremy Irons and a healthy amount of alcohol is the only way to watch the original D&D flick. Also see: ERAGON, also for Jeremy Irons.

Also, I will admit to convincing my friends at the time it came out to see it in the theatre, claiming it COULD be good....I was wrong, and I have still not lived it down all these years later.

You should buy beer for everyone every time you hang out, just to thank them for still being your friends after what you did.

The second one stars Paris Hilton.

Let me restate to emphasize....
DUNGEONS & DRAGONS 2....
a film that should NEVER have seen the light of day after the debacle first mess...
STARS...
not features in the cast in a ballroom scene or humourous moment, but actually STARS....
Paris.
Hilton.

I'm pretty sure 90% of the people who watched the second one thought it was going to be a porno.

NOR SHOULD THEY.

It's not that a decent or even great DnD film is unthinkable... Joe (future Deathstroke/True Blood werewolf/Magic Mike's better looking buddy) Manganiello has his own script he's shopping around hollywood these days and Vin Diesel is a full blown vocal fan of the game, so there is some interest... it's just that it is so so very easy to get wrong. And then put blue lipstick on Jeremy Irons just to ice the shitcake.

You know Abyss, there are things a person just doesn't need to know, because their sense of existential dread will go sky high once in possession of said knowledge.

I think you just found one of them :p

You are right though, it's not impossible to do well...... just previous experience teaches us it's unlikely. I always wondered about making an adaption of one of the FR game stories - Icewind Dale, Baldur's Gate etc. - would serve, but then I guess just because you have your plot set doesn't mean you wouldn't run into other problems. Or indeed, still run into the blue lipstick on Jeremy Irons scenario....

...am I the only one who is morbidly curious (like a train wreck, or true crime) about the sequel starring Hilton? Just me?

I don’t even remember her in it honestly. I just remember blue lipstick.

Wasn't blue lipstick guy only in D&D 1?
