I will be nice to the obviously seriously ill Apt here and confirm that Pacific Rim does not hold up well after time.

Unfortunately it's still better than Transformers, as is, for example, pond scum.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Saw MALEFICENT with the MRs. at the Drive-in last night. Really good. Better than I had expected!

Burt Wonderstone is really funny. Jim Carrey steals the show!

I thought it was half-baked. There were some funny bits, but the ending came off as evil, rather than funny. That kind of thing happened often enough that I was wondering if some parts got chopped out in editing or the script got changed around to please someone else.

Carrey is very funny in this though. He really did a good job with the character.

Aside from the fact that stupid Shia Labeef is in this...this looks great! WWII Tank warfare.

Saw TRANSFORMERS 4 last night.

Dialed down: Male gaze, racist and toilet humor.
Dialed up: Robots, explosions, and runtime.

Easily the second-best of the franchise (I still love the first, and despise 2-3.) The pacing is much better than the last couple films (it didn't feel like an almost-three-hour movie) and the plot was less nonsensical. Sets things up nicely (I guess) for the rest of the trilogy. If you hate Bay's TF films, this one won't change your mind; they are what they are at this point.

Just make sure to get comfortable first. :)

I should add that Kelsey Grammer and Stanley Tucci were fanastic. Mark Walhberg was surprisingly wooden (though I confess I haven't seen much of his work) but the scriptwriter certainly didn't do him any favors.

What about plain old idiotic humor? The only genuinely funny scene in #1 was when the bots were shuffling around Sam's yard trying to be quiet enough to avoid waking up his parents. Everything else, including John Turturro's entire plot-line, was ridiculous slapstick that didn't belong in a movie that wasn't supposed to be a comedy. I remember walking out of the theater in disgust as soon as the end credits started to roll and the parent characters were still doing some sort of sitcom routine... Yeesh! :)

I guess, but after MONUMENTS MEN, is there really anything new or interesting left to say about WWII? I think we need a moratorium for maybe 10 years or so.

How about someone going back to WWI and adapting THE GUNS OF AUGUST? Yeah, pretty tall order, but surely someone's up to the challenge...
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

Instead of making another war movie maybe they should make a peace movie. Really makes you think huh?
