Saw The Good the Bad and the Weird, a Korean take on spaghetti western. It was much more enjoyable than I had anticipated, though it doesn't hold a candle to its titular inspiration.

In fairness, it's not really trying to, being also a knockabout comedy in the vein of a Kung-Fu Hustle as well as a Western epic.

But I do really like that film. There are bits where it gets a bit overlong, but Kim Ji-Woon really is a dab hand at simple, effective action.
I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.

God Bless America.

I am firmly of the opinion that this film should be compulsory viewing in all Western nations. It is potentially the best film ever made. Never mind that it actually works somewhat well as a movie, its portrayal of modern society (and not just American society, as much of what is shown is now a 'global' occurrence) is not so exaggerated as to be an outright parody, and thus it resonates well and works excellently as a social commentary. Highly recommended.

Is that the older man/younger girl drive round America shooting people who deserve it? Yeah that was actually pretty sweet...

That film looked to me rather a lot like Super, except without the costumes.

Similar premise/setup, I guess. One is waaaaaaay more comedic and stupid and useless at making its point, if it even really has one, though. :) God Bless America could actually be used as a genuine educational tool. XD And is cooler, because it doesn't steal the plot of Kick-Ass but without Hit Girl, and because it's a smart movie, not a dumb one. XD

As far as bon gothwaite movies go, i thought Worlds Greatest Dad was better. Shakes the Clown is amazing though.

Theorizing that one could poop within his own lifetime, Doctor Poopet led an elite group of scientists into the desert to develop a top secret project, known as QUANTUM POOP. Pressured to prove his theories or lose funding, Doctor Poopet, prematurely stepped into the Poop Accelerator and vanished. He awoke to find himself in the past, suffering from partial amnesia and facing a mirror image that was not his own. Fortunately, contact with his own bowels was made through brainwave transmissions, with Al the Poop Observer, who appeared in the form of a hologram that only Doctor Poopet could see and hear. Trapped in the past, Doctor Poopet finds himself pooping from life to life, pooping things right, that once went wrong and hoping each time, that his next poop will be the poop home.

I like Super. Very weird obviously and you have to be prepared for some absolutely pitch-dark comedy but it's a cracking little film. Not as good as Kick-Ass (few films are), but also not as similar as it feels at first glance.

I Netflix'd GOD BLESS AMERICA. I was alternately amused and horrified at how close that hit to home.
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

Watched THE PHANTOM MENACE again. First time in a looooong time.

Y'know, it really does have the single best lightsaber duel in the entire franchise (so far). Too bad it's wrapped up in a shit burrito, and smothered in crap sauce.

There are small portions of TPM that are VERY quality (the lightsaber duel is one of them), and hearken to the OT in lovely ways....but yeah, more than half is hard to stomach.

Absolutely, and aside from the Imperial March, it's Williams greatest contribution to the SW universe that piece.

CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS 2 (I enjoyed the first one, as it was done by the CLONE HIGH folks, and was pretty darn clever and funny) The sequel, was quite amusing, and the puns are the best part. It's not quite on a scale as good as the first, but it's still a wonderful family film, and your kids will love it.

Took the Mrs. to see GRAVITY. Even better upon a second viewing. Seriously a filmic masterpiece. And Sandra Bullock is going to be a front runner come Oscar season.

Also saw Gravity. Really good. The only problem that I had with it, and its not really a problem with the movie, was with the casting. I believe the movie would have been better without Cloony and (maybe) Bullock. Not that they didn't do a good job, as Bullock did was surprisingly good but I think the only reason those two were cast was to get the fans/older/ non sci-fi folk to see it. I saw an older gentleman with his wife deciding to see a movie and they chose it because of the cast, as well as my mom who does not care for these kinds of movies one bit wants to see it cause Bullock is in it. I guess it worked as its doing pretty well.

Either way it was fantastic.

That's a really weird backhanded slap to two really solid actors, IMNSHO.

Curious, who you think could have done the roles better? (I'm quite curious, as I thought they fit quite well to those characters is all)
