Hugo Weaving tends to be the best thing about the CGI crapfests he's in, so there's always that.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Lots of “Mortal” titles of late.

I should finish and submit my Mortal Dick Becomes an Immortal Dick novel asap

See it's attitudes like this that mean these things keep getting made...

Sounds like Twilight.

Watching Braveheart on BBC America in between No Mans Sky, TTH and Dragonlance 2!

Though history-wise it is mostly full of shit and totally inaccurate...it's still one of my favourite movies of all time.

It's a great watch, but as you say, historically shite.

Like Gladiator.

Yep. Another film I adore...but yeah totally shit on a history spectrum.

That raises a good question, what is the best Ancient Rome-era film that hews closer to history?

I liked both THE EAGLE and CENTURION....but I'll wager they are as off the historical angle than even GLADIATOR is.

Maybe Cleopatra? Though that is heavily romantized at times.

My dad likes to point out that Cleopatra's parade goes through Constantine's Arch, which was built 300 years after her death.

It's a bit weird how often he is in CGI crapfests considering how he is supposedly such a technophobe that he doesn't even own a watch.

Making it somewhat ironic that possibly his most iconic role is playing a computer program.

I, Claudius? Although that was a TV series.

I'd like HBO to get back on the Rome horse and do the Masters of Rome series by Colleen McCullough.

Part of me would love to see Igguldens take on the Marius/Sulla struggle and have them throw down in the streets of Rome. Historical accuracy be damned

Yesterday I stayed up until midnight channel hopping and watched the second half of The Day After Tomorrow followed by the second half of Jurassic World followed by most of World War Z. It was good until WWZ and I've seen them all before so knew that particular one was shite already. Then the offspring woke at 4am so it was a double slap in the face for my foolishness.

I regret nothing! Sometimes you stay up late watching rubbish just to prove you still can. Living on the edge.

I'm wondering how many times I have seen The Day After Tomorrow now. Got to be double figures and I couldn't tell you why.

Just watched Jurassic World 2. That was seriously the worst. Like sub-JP3 nonsense from start to finish. But since I'm a bit late on this one I won't get all into it.

I will single out one bit of dialogue stuffed into the esteemed Jeff Goldblum's mouth, emblematic of the whole thing: "Yet I can assure you it most assuredly is." Was Colin Trevorrow dropped on his head on each of his first ten birthdays?
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

1. I've not seen it yet, but you hating it like this gives me hope I'll like it...since we often disagree on good content for a film. :no
2. Derek Connelly wrote most of the original script, based on Trevorrow's story, and that script was then overwritten by director J.A Bayona as he shot the film (though he didn't overwrite enough for the board to give him a writing credit as well), so that line is either by Connelly (a seasoned author), or a man with English as a second language. Not Trevorrow.

3. Coming from the guy who loves a movie with lines like:

“We’re going to win this war not by fighting what we hate, but by saving what we love.”
"Master Skywalker, we need you to bring the Jedi back because Kylo Ren is strong with the dark side of the Force."

WOOF

And my personal favourite for ridiculous: "Hope is like the sun. If you only believe it when you see it you'll never make it through the night." As if the SUN is something that requires belief...or that a person won't make it through the hours of nighttime unless they believe in it rising the next day...this is like a bad office poster quote if it was written by a chimpanzee who was hit in the head with a shovel first and then handed a pen.

Doesn't hold a candle to "It's the Collection Agency, Bison. Your ass is six months over-due, and it's mine."

Asses have deadlines? They're transplantable?
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.
