I've seen it and thought it was pretty good.

And the movie does show why he turned to politics, doesnt it?

Mind you, the book is about the most boring travelogue EVER.

Watched Eternal Sunshine of the Sportless Mind.

Good movie.

Also watched american beauty again. Every time i watch i like it less. However, it seems like i watched a censored version before. I've never seen the bit where the blonde girl says that its her first time.

So, there I am, just chilling and watching LoTR again when it occurs to me (in that way it does like a slap in the face) that there is an amazingly blinding plot-hole. Okay, so maybe half of you have already heard of this one or worked it out for yourselves, but...when the Eagle rescued Gandalf from atop Orthanc, why did it not occur to the "oh so wise Mithrandir" to have the Eagle carry Frodo straight to the entrance to the "Fiery chasm from whence it came" and end it right there and then?

PS - Had I been Elrond, I would have killed Isildur within Mount Doom and tossed the ring in!

Doesn't that relate to something in the book with regard to the Eagles considering the whole mess to be none of their concern. And somthing about the brown wizard as well?

I guess they changed their mind in the end, at least it saved us from seeing last-minute-before-we-die-hobit-love on screen didn't it?

Went to see Hitchhikers today (well, yesterday, technically). It was a bit of a dissapointment to be honest. Still, some good momentsPosted Image

@Slowkat - Twelve Monkeys is one of my favourite movies (though not for the same reasons Posted Image) indeed, I just think that Pitt and Willis both managed the performances of their respective careers in it.

"Besides Audition, Shinya Tskuamoto's cyberpunk movie Tetsuo is the weirdist and most disturbing movie I have ever seen. A guy's body metamorphicizes into a machine shown in stop motion animation set to industrial music. The movie is an underground classic that influenced the weird style of the Darren Aronofsky (Pi and Requiem for a Dream.)"

Have you seen gozu? As weird as it gets.

David Lynch can get pretty damn weird, too.

I watched the edukators, which was a great movie. If you get the chance to watch it, do.

Pity a lot of the humor gets lost in the subtitles, though. You could really tell who in the audience could speak german cuz they were laughing all the time.

Also watched the interpreter, which aside from some awkward dialogue and implausible plot twists was pretty good as well.

I walked out of Revenge of the Sith to see Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. Then I walked out of Hitchhikers to see Unleashed. Unleashed was pretty good. The best thing about those other movies were the trailers e.g. Chronicles of Narnia.

Has anyone here seen Godfrey Ho 'cut-and-paste' movies. Haven't seen myself, but according to what I've read they must be hilarious.

The most idiotic ending in a movie must be in Jaws: the Revenge. The Great white shark (which has followed the killers of its kin to the other side of the world!) stands ( Posted Image) in the water because its being shot with an electric gun from an approaching ship. The shark roars and then the bow of the ship hits it - and the shark EXPLODES!!!

Saw War of the World over the weekend. Loved Cruise and Dakota's performances. Also it was, plotwise, pretty faithful to the book, which is something I always like. Good movie, better than I expected. and certainly it was no Independence Day re-run.

Just returned from Batman Begins, flat-out best movie I watched this year. Awesome atmosephere, good plot, a ****load of good actors acting good, and enough cool stuff to sinks a boat. And the batmobile was awesome.

Whether or not you like Before Sunset or Before Sunrise may depend on how well you connect with Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke. There isn't a lot to the plots. They are basically just two exercises of free flow dialogue.

Before Sunset is probably the more interesting of the two films since it feels more natural (Uma and Ethan wrote a lot of the dialogue, perhaps even all of it.) Personally, I prefer Waking Life to both films because the dialogue is more philosophical and it's accompanied by interesting visuals.

If you like dialogue heavy movies, Slackers and My Diner with Andre also fits the bill.

For an interesting use of dialogue you should check out His Girl Friday (Directed by Howard Hawks and starring Cary Grant.) The lines are delivered extremely fast and it's chock full of clever quips.

Saw Howl's Moving Castle yesterday. It was supremely cheesie (children's movie) but the animation was interesting. Kind of a throw back to the 80's with hints of superior animation ability thrown in to throw me off. Usually I enjoy anything that is produced by studio Ghibli and this was no exception.
I am excited to see their next movie, I hear it will be much better. In the realms of princess mononoke, etc.

GAWD, but the ending! That movie was so over after he talks with his father.

No, they have make up a conflict out of thin air (ellipses my ass) and tack on another 5 minutes just so they can completely sledgehammer their point home.
