I feel like there's already been a bunch of these shows. Wasn't there one a couple years ago about a guy with a chip in his head? And another one with some guy who had brain surgery or something?

It seems to be a popular genre at the minute - super smarts crossed with police work.

There was that show Intelligence with Sawyer from Lost but it was cancelled after 1 season so I guess that didn't do too well, he had a computer or chip in his brain and you've got Scorpion which has a genius / team working for the FBI.

Then there is Sherlock / Elementary, the Forever lead Henry had top deduction skills too...

They're the ones I know about so aye, a fair few at the minute!

Saw PITCH PERFECT 2 tonight. Very good. It doens't quite hit all the notes that the first one does, but it comes very close.

And consider me impressed with the direction. This is directed by Elizabeth Banks, and you can't tell it's her directorial debut at all. She did a great job.

Just an all around charming flick.

Went in with low expectations based on my dislike of bridesmaids and expecting the only funny bits to have been in the trailer.

Statham steals the show, everything he says and does it brilliant.

McCarthy dies the job well enough but turns 'hardnosed bitch' a bit too quickly.

Highly entertaining, best comedy I've seen in the theatre for a few years

I always thought an obvious sequel could center around all the city destroying ships crash landing around the earth. Sure the impacts would have been catastrophic but millions of aliens could have survived, making way for a land war between the Aliens and Humans.

Seen it aswell, I didn't like it all that much, except for the camping scene, holy shitballs I nearly shat myself from laughter!

So the "How It Should Have Ended" guys just pointed out a MASSIVE character plot hole in AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON that I will henceforth never be able to unsee. It doens' truin the movie...but it certainly shows that Whedon needed a plot device and he chose the wrong character for it.

When Quicksilver saves Hawkeye and gets hit with crossfire...it has been pointed out that with his powers, time would slow around him and he could literally have just flicked the bullets away from being aimed at Hawkeye's back...and he would not have gotten hit by them himself. So a death I already disliked as pointless, is now doubly so and showing me that Whedon wanted a death to occur for some sort of emotional hit late in the movie (like IM almost sacrificing himself in AVENGERS 1)...but now it's perfectly obvious that choosing Quicksilver for that death is stupid. Super fast guy can get out of the way of bullets.

This looks decent. It seems like Werner Herzog is purposely aping David Lean in this film...which is both a good thing, and apt for this specific story.

I'm unsure about Pattinson playing Lawrence though...

The physics of it disagree though. If he's moving faster than us....everything else is (by the nature of such speed) moving slower. Slowed down bullets...can be knocked away.

you do realise how fast a bullet is right? Average speed of a bullet is 1700 mph. To be moving so much faster than a bullet he can knock it out of the air (ignoring momentum entirely) he would have to be going mach 4 or 5, so he would have been breaking the sound barrier consistently which he wasn't. He was never shown to be that fast compared to men quicksilver who was shown to be able to do those things.

Eh, I'm not buying it. Every other version of someone moving super fast shows this ability or a variation thereof. I'm not willing to believe that the ONE version of that who doesn't do it...is the be-all-end-all.

It's not that the one who doesn't do it is the be-all and end-all... but this one doesn't do it.
It's not just that he's not moving nearly as fast as Flash/X-Men Quicksilver, when he's moving fast he's quite clumsy- as if either his brain, while running faster than ours, isn't quite keeping up with his body,or as if he has to be running to activate the superspeed which would preclude him stopping to move the bullets in any case.
Whatever the reason, nothing he does in the film suggests that he's holding back any powers that would have allowed him to do anything differently in that scene.
