Forgot to mention that I finally saw GAME CHANGE, the movie about Sarah Palin. Julianne Moore nailed it. And it's funny, the movie makes you feel almost sorry for Palin. I did say almost.

I had the same notion when I saw it, but then I remembered that she's a rather selfish human being only out for herself.
Screw you all, and have a nice day!

Yah it's pretty amazing. I guess at the time it was appropriate and only fair to portray her as a spunky self-motivated (if incompetent) opportunist. Since then it's become clear she's an actual, honest-to-god grifter, but it was worth giving her the benefit of the doubt at least the once. And Moore is probably one of the all-time best actors.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Saw John Wick. Recommended for all fans of action and of good mythos-building.
I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.

I saw it a couple of days myself. It certainly is a decent action movie with a good pace throughout the film. But, like you said, it has good mythos-building and I found myself more interested in the various small side characters, such as Charon, Winston and the old "janitor" This movie could certainly spawn a second a sequel and perhaps even a third.
Screw you all, and have a nice day!

Charlie Hunman is replacing Benedict Cumberbatch as Percy Fawcett in the film version of David Grann's (stellar non-fiction book) LOST CITY OF Z.

While Cumberbatch could probably have nailed the role more from an actor perspective...Hunman LOOKS the part more....but I fear wooden acting like Pacific Rim.

I will freely admit that the train wreck that appears to be the 50 Shades movie...makes me at least a little happy.

So we just saw Lucy. Aside from the 100% true science that they keep bombarding you with, it was a highly entertaining film!

Saw BIRDMAN.

I didn't hate it, but I did NOT like it. I'm unsure if it's about celebrity, mental health, or any of the other loose plot threads in the script. The soundtrack drumming made me want to punch the composer in the face, repeatedly. The no edit camerawork gave me a headache, and should be fucking outlawed. The dialogue is a mess with how it weaves in and out of reality and play (I get that was the point, but I didn't like it). I don't care about the ambiguous ending, or even about any of the characters.

The acting is great, but nothing else in the movie spoke to me at all. Even the whole Birdman conscience aspect was bizarrely handled.

How this is getting such acclaim is beyond me. Every other film in the best pic category is better than this...and if THE IMITATION GAME or THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING don't beat this in at least best pic category, then Hollywood and I have ceased to agree.

And yes, I know I'm in the minority here, :(

This is one of the funniest things I've read on here.

I disagree with almost everything you've said.

I am actually with QT here, whilst the acting was great - I love Ed Norton - I felt that the rest of the film was pretty poor, it just wasn't for me.

The camera work was fine for the first 5 minutes but after that it just annoyed me and I soon got bored, would have turned it off if it wasn't for the other half wanting to keep watching it.

Both the wife and I kept going "Do you want to turn it off?" and the response was always "MAYBE it's going somehwere?" So we persevered. It never went anywhere.

While I believe that Shawshank should have taken it that year (never PULP FICTION...fuck Tarantino) I was also a big enough fan of FORREST GUMP not to be too upset.

The last time I was fully against the Best Picture was back in the 90's when THE ENGLISH PATIENT won.

Pulp Fiction rules, Shawshank drools. The less said about Gump the better.

Also didn't Crash win BP well after the 90s? #WTHQT?

There are a number of films that weren't particularly good and films that were actually bad that won the Best Picture in every decade of Oscar voting.

it would take an unusually lenient critic to go back to the 90s for a "Shouldn't have won that" movie.

I watched Inherent Vice on a Sunday night pretty late in the evening. There were 7 people in the theater and 2 women left in the middle after having a conversation like this about three times.

I still loved the movie - fantastic adaptation of the book - but it's not everyone's thing. Birdman is set up in a similar way, so I don't actually begrudge QuickTidal and champ for their negative reviews.

It's still a great movie though.

Saw Jupier Ascendent expecting a bad SF movie with some cool action scenes...not that in a sane universe everyone who was part of the film creation team should be shot except for the people doing the 3d enviroments (which where admittedly awesome).

It is however well to know that I'm unlikely to watch a movie that bad in a year or two.
