Finally got around to watching Looper. I like it!

Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

LOOPER was fun as hell. Time travel movies are awesome anyways, but I liked that one a bunch.

Just watched ODD THOMAS on Netflix last night. Pretty good film, despite the obvious cheapness of many scenes. Never read the books and didn't realize it was based off a Dean Koonts series. My wife liked it too. I recommend.
Theorizing that one could poop within his own lifetime, Doctor Poopet led an elite group of scientists into the desert to develop a top secret project, known as QUANTUM POOP. Pressured to prove his theories or lose funding, Doctor Poopet, prematurely stepped into the Poop Accelerator and vanished. He awoke to find himself in the past, suffering from partial amnesia and facing a mirror image that was not his own. Fortunately, contact with his own bowels was made through brainwave transmissions, with Al the Poop Observer, who appeared in the form of a hologram that only Doctor Poopet could see and hear. Trapped in the past, Doctor Poopet finds himself pooping from life to life, pooping things right, that once went wrong and hoping each time, that his next poop will be the poop home.

Saw Edge of Tomorrow. Really good Sci-fi action flick. Great concept, visuals & by heck but Emily Blunt looked dead sexy in one of the "Jackets" as they are called...

Bad Neighbours.
Average, trailers showed the best parts, for example the airbags, would have been absolutely hilarious if I hadn't seen it 20 times on tv.
Still watchable but its not old school

Edge of Tomorrow was really good. Emily Blunt kicking alien ass with a buster sword was just awesome. Go see it, its well worth it.

Edit: If you can don't see it in 3D. There was nothing 3D about it like most movies these days.

Saw EDGE OF TOMORROW.

Pretty good, although the scene of Cage going to the pub is not set up so it's a bit jarring. Bad edit?

Also, why are all alien invaders totally unstoppable killing machines, except for one secret "instant defeat" mechanism?

They're called Mimics but what were they mimicking? Runaway weed-eaters?

Older movies that the Mrs and I watched on the cruise that we'd never seen before.

ABOUT TIME - Huh, I expected way more from Richard Curtis. Started off decent and knew what it wanted to be for the first half...and then the second half it becomes something totally else and becomes one of the most messy, convoluted, depressing films I've sat through in a while. I THINK the ending is meant to be uplifting...but instead it just depressed the heck out of us.

A DOLPHIN TALE - Meh, it is what it is. Fluff "based on a true story" about helping maimed dolphin. Hard to tell how much of it was accurate...Loved that it helped move prosthetic ahead though, I hope that part was true...and I'm convinced that the intention on the part of the filmmakers was to unite Harry Connick and Ashley Judd's single-parent statuses in a romantic way, but that thread just kind of drifts off...so I'd rather it had been ditched altogether if they weren't going to fully go through with it. Overall I enjoyed it enough to recommend it for Sunday night Family fare.

RIDE ALONG - I wanted this to be funnier than it ended up being. I like both the leads and the opening action sequence was really well done...sadly the rest of the film is a bit generic, with certain things registering for shock value comedy. Ice Cube's character is unrepentantly a jerkhole even when Kevin is earnest with him about loving his sister, Cube rebuffs him over and over and proceeds to run him through a bunch of fake shit to prove he's worthless. It's decidedly mean-spirited in that way. I don't like mean-spirited films. A few chuckle-worthy moments, but overall I'd say skip this.

Re-watched THOR 2, DESPICABLE ME, WRECK-IT RALPH...and all three still hold up immensely.

Just watched Pacific Rim. Kinda sorta didn't like that film.

I was one of the people who raised some objections about the premise when the trailers were released. None of those issues were properly addressed in the actual film.

I am going to put things in a spoiler box just in case:

But hey, all those complaints above can be waved aside by one simple excuse. It's giant fucking robots punching giant fucking monsters. I am all for that.

It's just a shame then that the actual movie seems so low budget. The sets look like somebody gave Scy-fy A LOT of money but it all looks so... movie set. The script is fucking awful, it hardly felt as though they were trying. And the actors, good lord. If it wasn't for Idris Alba you could have written the entire movie off.

Pacific Rim is the best Giant Robots fighting Giant Monsters movie I have ever seen but I'd prefer to watch a Michael Bay Transformers movie all day every day over this. Transformers may be stupid movies but they are crafted on a much higher level than Pacific Rim.
