Glad I am not alone in my Croods love, though. THere's some quality foreshadowing and many other great storytelling devices in that movie. For Dreamworks, it was nice that it wasn't an animated caveman tale told through the worn out device of cribbing elements of modern pop culture.

I loved The Croods. My husband resisted watching this and insisted it would be stupid. He ended up really liking it, too. I may have seen a small tear in his eye.

Can't wait to see Frozen.

DEEP IMPACT was on TV today. Always love that movie, but I always forget just how totally the last half hour emotionally WRECKS me.

The correct one usually is.

Although Armageddon is more of a good bad movie than the other similar pair of films, Volcano and Dante's Peak, where one is horrendous dreck and the other sublime madness and NASA-thanking.

In Transformers 4, Grimlock transforms from a T-Rex into a DVD of Even Stevens season 1. The other dinobots make up the remaining seasons for a full set.

They came with white hands and left with red hands.

I'm not at all sure about the 4th flick.

But two things in that Superbowl spot were cool.

Whoever that green transformer was with the parachutes falling with guns outstretched to the side.

And yeah, Grimlock looked BAD-ASS.

Otherwise, meh.

And I loathe Whalberg.

So HUGE grain of salt, and a wait-and-see position.

Got dragged to see That Awkward Moment last night.

Meh, a RomCom that threw in some crude humour, slow and laboured in parts fell together too easily in the end. Zac Efron is a pretty man though.

Yeah, taking the fam tomorrow. I'm very stoked to see it, not sure why. I wasn't that into Legos as a kid.

In other movie news, finally showed the kids Star Wars Eps IV-VI. We originally only showed them IV, but then a couple weeks later the Mrs and I figured they would get spoilered by their friends at school if we didn't go ahead and at least show them V. Then once we showed them V, we were like, well, might as well go ahead and finish the trilogy. LOL.

Glad to hear the LEGO movie was good. One question though...Is it rife with pop-culture reference jokes or are there an acceptable amount? Because I have to say that stuff drives me up a wall. It gets old quick. I've heard from several people already that its a good movie, but no one has been able to accurately describe humor and the trailer made it look like it was going to do that style of humor to death.

CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS 2: Not bad at all. In fact, I kinda liked it a bunch. The food/animal hybrid puns got a little old after a bit, but the story was great, the animation was top shelf, and the characters were all pretty well defined and interesting. I was surprised it was as good as it was. Very MBotF-ish in the way that they flip the "monster" trope around. Some interesting ethical questions arise, too, about business, corporations, greed, ambition, humanity, empathy, which is always good when it actually makes kids think a little bit. Recommend, highly if you have kids.

AMERICAN HUSTLE: Oh, man, do yourselves a favor and see this movie. I wouldn't call it the greatest ever and the ending left a bit to be desired, but I haven't seen acting this good in pretty much forever. I didn't really care for SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK all that much; again, I think David O. Russell has trouble with endings (even THREE KINGS had a pretty unforgettable ending). But if he can keep putting DeNiro into quality roles, it just may prevent Bobby D's late-career nosedive brought on by The Focker franchise. And holy shit Jennifer Lawrence, you can fucking ACT. This is the type of movie that makes you appreciate the craft of acting, and how chemistry with other actors is just as important as delivery. Its very GOODFELLAS-ish and is certainly a nod to Scorsese, but that only adds to its appeal. Highly recommend

Fortunately, contact with his own bowels was made through brainwave transmissions, with Al the Poop Observer, who appeared in the form of a hologram that only Doctor Poopet could see and hear. Trapped in the past, Doctor Poopet finds himself pooping from life to life, pooping things right, that once went wrong and hoping each time, that his next poop will be the poop home.

Finally watched RUSH. Man, what a phenomenal flick!

I swear Ron Howard hasn't made a film in the last decade that I haven't fully enjoyed...but RUSH may be his most accomplished.
