I don't know, probably some unknown actors. It just seemed off for some reason. Maybe because if I see a type of movie like this I would also like to know nothing about the actors playing it. A (very) familiar face kinda took something away. Just my opinion.

Yes, if they rearrange lots of things, it gets better.

I've said this multiple times, but if it's rearranged like this:

1) the first movie is Anakin's discovery, pod-racing, apprentice-ship to Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan and trip to Naboo to make sure the newly anointed/elected Queen can get to Coruscant for all important vote on Naboo/Nemoidans, which means Maul can fight with Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan over his assassination mission, Amidala and Anakin can meet and hang out and we get to meet all the important players - beyond the shadowy Sidious.

2) the second movie is the actual enactment of the blockade by the Nemoidans because they want money/unobtanium on Naboo + promises from Sidious to support them and make sure they win, Anakin's training as a Jedi, growing discontent in Senate, Maul killing Qui-Gon and nearly killing Amidala, creation of clone army and the ending of the Nemoidan blockade by Anakin being a fighter pilot etc.

3) Third movie is the clones vs. droid war, Amidala frustrated by Senate do-nothings (caused by Palpatine/Sidious) and stays in the Jedi building for protection, Anakin having Jedi close to him killed left and right, Palpatine showing that Yoda/Jedi Council are buffoons and aren't giving them enough training or power to actually deal with the droids, a climatic duel with Anakin and Maul that turns a sweet victory into ashes as Amidala is threatened by Sidious who is taking on the appearance of Obi Wan, Anakin's descent into the dark side as he kills the Jedi adults and a few teenagers to get to Obi-Wan, the kids escape into the city, and then Amidala appears to die in front of Anakin at the hands of Obi-Wan - which makes him go full dark side and they go off to the lava planet for the duel and Amidala is rescued by Yoda after fleeing Sidious during a duel.

This is a rough sketch from memory and I think my earlier versions were actually more coherent and better, as I cared. However the important thing is that the descent of Anakin into the dark side is present from movie 2 onwards and makes much more sense over a long period of frustration and Sidious whispering in his ear. Movie 1 gets everybody caring about the characters and Maul's presence drives a ton of interest throughout the trilogy. Dooku is discarded entirely (served no purpose in the movies) and Grievious is optional. Jango Fett can fit into the second movie and Windu can kill him in the third.

Other than Clooney drifting away, those are all minor nitpicks with the narrative. Tyson is brilliant, but apparently he's also one of those people who can't let his brain stop when he goes to the movies long enough to enjoy? LOL

Ah well.

Having not seen the film I think his, as you call them, minor nitpicks more reflects an exasperation on his part about such minor things that would have required little effort on the producers part to get right...

I think what he's trying to communicate is that these are issues that are so easy to get right that it's practically unforgivable that they didn't.

Indeed, and were this a normal film I'd agree with you...but this was a film 4 years in the making and was about as daunting an undertaking as anyone has taken on in many years. The logistics involved in getting most of it right were insane enough. In any film stuff is bound to slip through the cracks, and once you've seen the film you'll likely realize that his comments are small nitpicks that help the narrative work well, or were logistically impossible (Bullock's hair couldn't float since they never used the Vomit Comet plane to simulate the zero g, but rather it was all accomplished with wire work).

I understand WHY Tyson has those complaints...but on that same note no one else who wasn't schooled from young age in space sciences would EVER know most of that to have it bother them. Example: No one who doesn't work for NASA or is an Astrophysicist would EVER be aware that the space stations involved aren't at the same eyesight of orbit, or the direction in which earths satellites orbit.

So when making a film for the planet to view that is already a logistical nightmare to make, and the choice is made for narrative reasons to fudge a few numbers, because 98% of those viewers won't know the difference, I see no problem with it, and find Tyson's comments to be nitpicks. They are VALID nitpicks, to be sure...but he's still in a small group of those that would be aware and annoyed.

AKA you can't please everyone.

Just my two cents.

He does this for a bunch of sci fi movies (or others, when appropriate) just for the kick, I wouldn't take it too seriously, or infer that he's doing so either. It's closer in tone to like a Mythbusters movie episode.

I'll be honest: I really wanted to like that trailer, but it looks shit. I enjoy 300 and am looking forward to the sequel but I don't understand why every other mythical-historical film has to try to ape it.

Finally caught Ang Lee's version of HULK.

Not great, but surprisingly better than the Edward Norton abortion that is considered Phase I canon.

And Nick Nolte delivers quite the startling performance.

Ed Nortons Hulk is significantly better than the Eric Banas Hulk. I liked Ruffalo as Avengers Hulk but thought it would have been good to see Nortons hulk.

Also Lou Ferrigno does the voice still which is good.

Anywho, watched THE PEOPLE VS GEORGE LUCAS, which is what prompted me to search for the holiday special I mentioned in the SW ded-thread. Funny. I really did like the Special Editions (except for the infamous Greedo shoots first re-cut, which is hilariously sent up in STAR WARS TALES), but seriously, why can't Lucas release the original theatrical versions? Like one guy says in the film, even if you only put them in a huge box set with the Special Editions and prequels and bonus discs, people WILL buy them, so what's the problem?
