So,

Just watched Tekken, the film.

My impressions (thoughts) while watching, stream of conciousness style:

They've dicked around with the background a litte to try and make sense of it, that's okay.

Dude playing Jin looks the part, ditto Jun, Heihachi, Kazuya...
(Why does Jin have an English accent at times....)
stuff happens, allegedly plot relevant.....
first fight! Not too bad, decent choreography, certainly seen worse...hey, that's Cung Le!
stuff happens....
Kazuya introduces the fighters to Heihachi, neat trick to give them a bit of backstory that ties into the character backgrounds from the games......
(who is that playing Christie Monteiro - she's quite pretty)

Jin meets the other fighters (scratch that, the woman playing Christie is STUNNING, didn't get the full effect before as you just saw a picture)

Some fights! Choreography is a weird mix of showing specific fighting styles and MMA, like a halfway house between 70's era kung fu films and the UFC. Interesting though. (Seriously, that woman playing Christie is bona fide HAWT, what's her name, boot up imdb while watching)

stuff happens. (woman playing Christie is called Kelly Overton. amazing looking on film. To Google! Still images don't do her justice )

stuff happens. (she's very attractive though) more stuff happens (like, insanely so)
other things happen (seriously imdb? she's 32? Damn, would have said mid 20's tops.)

film ends (she really is seriously HAWT though)

Lasting impressions - tried to stay pretty faithful to source material, not a bad way to pass an hour and a half.

Oh, and Kelly Overton is hot.

Overall, 4 iron fists out of 6. (would have been 3 if it weren't for Christie/Kelly)

Just watched Macgruber. I knew nothing of the movie before I saw it, but I was thoroughly entertained. It was hilarious, with lots of W00t, WTF og Aaaawkwaaaard-moments.


I give it 3.5 out of 5 celery sticks.

Star Trek, totally underwhelmed me, I had built it up in my head as a tooled up BSG, too much trekyness for my liking.

Benchwarmers, surprisingly funny, childish immature humour that I love. A rob schneider film I enjoyed, a rarity

Tekken - A hell of a lot better than I expected.

avoided all the Mortal Kombat cheesyness. Fight scenes were excellent, storyline acceptable and holy shit but christie monterro is smoking hot. Full marks to the costume department for her trousers. That's trousers in the plural, all ridiculously tight and the whole strippesque lacing on the back is simply fantastic. Yes I am a pervert, deal with it.

Brought back great memories of the button bash fest that was tekken 1 through to 3. I skipped a few, got tag and have 6 lying about but haven't played it.

Bryan Fury was perfectly cast, jsut the complete bastard I always imagined, although Jin could have been a bit darker, they've set it up well for Heihacti returning to the scene, I really hope the sequel this shit, and keep kelly in there in her trousers. Possibly another nina fight. Yes I am a pervert.

4 out of 6? not a bad shout, because I was a bit of a tekken fan back in the day, the lack of Marshall Laws grandslam and backflip face kick, coupled with Jin not just dicking through a fight by dropping the downward head smash punch 9 times in a row leaves the film sitting at a generous (boosted by the girls fucking serious (he wasnt joking) hawtness and a dose of nostalgia) 18 obscenely tight pairs of trousers out of 25 flesh exposing tops

Watched Repo Men the other night and it was ok. Jude Law was surprisingly good however Forest Whitaker seemed miscast to me. The premise was excellent although I was left feeling that it could have been done a lot better. Nice little plot twist at the end that I saw coming thanks to the inclusion of 2 massive clues that could have been handled better.

A not bad 6.5 freshly harvested organs out of 10.

Prince of Persia

Jake was surprisingly good in the role, the whole cast worked pretty well, older brother was a bit wishy washy but not too much screen time to matter. Doctor Zhivago was excellent.
Gemma is a very pretty lady and they managed to avoid the less clothes = sexier = more audience. Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of the scantily clad ladies, but she's a natural beauty and it would just have been transformers tacky to try put a megan fozesque look to her. I can see her turning into a big star.
The film itself, story was passable, fights were fun, excellent free running bits that REALLY captured the essence of the game and a few of the panoramics brought back memories of SoT, WW and TT. I'm glad they gave him the WW look, by far the best (not the best game, just the best appearance for the prince) They didn't deliberately set up for a sequel either which was good, but I wouldn't mind seeing one, with possibly tying in the dahaka, but the island of time is a defunct idea now that the creation mythology has been changed around.
Back to the film, slavery guy with friend were the right balance of amusing and useful, not like a lot of comic relief these days.

I don't write helpful reviews but I liked it, if you enjoy a bit of indiana jones smack without the nazis, go for it.

Frailty (2001).

Absolutely adore this movie. Haunting would be my first description. Followed by suspenseful and then horrific. Which, I think, would entitle it to be defined as a fantastic movie, without any handle. Seriously, I'm horrified that it took me so long to watch a film that had a definite description of being great.

8 out of 10 easy, bordering on 8.5.

ninja assassins. kids being kidnapped and reshapen into the worlds best assassins, ninja style. they can hide in shadows and are bad ass. One assassin escapes and goes rogue. Modern day jouranlist/researcher find evidence of assassins and starts prying. price goes up on her head and rogue assassin protects her.

the main thing about this movie is blood. Lots and lots of blood. Guy gets stabbed in the arm, blood everywhere.

Watched Unthinkable. it was a rollercoaster of epic proportions.

Halfway through even the most hardcore patriot might have sided with the terrorist.
Samuel L. Jackson played the badguy with a family and kids. gave his entire character
that little bit more grunge considering what he does to make the terrorist talk.
I loved this movie. It was simple yet effective. The good cop bad cop gimmick was
played through very nicely. I enjoyed how every shock was trumped by the next.

The whole time I kept wondering. in their position what would I do? In the end
you realize how shreds of humanity can damn a society. very Mr. Riddler looks in
the mirror. very clever story. I found it all fresh and worth a second watch to
put you through the thrill ride.

My assessment: 3 pretty sneaky Atomic disasters out of 4 (see what I did there?)

Saw Hurt Locker the other day. While individually the set pieces were taut and suspenseful, I didn't feel they were linked together very well. There is no overriding narrative running through all the bomb defusals - maybe that was the point, that Sgt. James is trying to find a story to be a part of when there isn't one, but if that was the case it wasn't a particularly well articulated theme. What this film does well is put on display the paranoia and enforced us-vs-them mentality that circumstances force on the occupying forces (and justifiably so, given some of the events portrayed). But it does so through a bunch of short vignettes as opposed to a single coherent story, and that ultimately makes it slightly less satisfying to watch, since there's no way to effectively build to a climax. The interlude with the Brits in the desert felt out of place, but it did serve well to break up the bomb disposal scenes.

I'd give it 4 roadside bombs out of 6.

I wish i would've known last week you hadnt seen this. I would have insisted on a mandatory Frailty time for the weekend. Movies so damn good.

Anyone going to see THE TOWN? Looks good. Significantly HEAT-like. I love this kind of back and forth with the cops and the bad guys.

As an aside: Might be good to see Jeremy Renner in a normal (non-Hurt Locker) role prior to seeing him down the road as Hawkeye in Joss Whedon's AVENGERS.

Also...Blake Lively......Yum.

I haven't seen rec 2 but I thought rec 1 was superb. Best film of its genre I have seen in ages. They brought out an english/american version called quarantine which I haven't watched as I do not think it would compare with the original. I have heard from a few friends that the original "The Ring" was a lot scarier than its remake.

I watched From Paris With Love at the weekend, and I think John Travolta plays a very good character, I actually like the way he kicks so much ass. Its a film that leaves you to guess what is going on rather than immediately know, unless you read the plot first. They are in Paris to stop a terrorist attack, lots of people die and there is a good twist. I give it 3 donkey slippers out of 4.

I also watched Apocalypse Now. What a film, great cast, Marlon Brando is a legend and so are the other guys in this film!! (Robert Duvall, Martin Sheen, Harrison Ford, Laurence Fishburne) All star cast or what. I give this a healthy 7 apples out of 9

Recently saw Machete and I'm Still Here.

Machete was fun. Probably my favorite Robert Rodriguez film. And really who can knock a movie with slutty machine-gun toting nurses?

I'm Still Here was interesting. I guess the point is that popular culture is on such a tabloid-news-reality treadmill we can no longer tell what's real and what's fake. But either way, it's kinda career suicide for Joaquin, so if he is triumphantly celebrating how successfully he fncked with us, it's a Pyrrhic victory. The genius who outsmarted himself.

I watched Zombie Strippers last night. For a movie with so much nudity, it was surprisingly uninteresting. Horrible acting, story made no sense and the special effects were...not good. Zombie make-up was decent, though.

I give it three out of ten decaying fake boobs.
