I just don't think I could put myself through it, even with the obvious benefits. I read Da Vinci Code, surely I have pained myself enough to further my enjoyment of every other book ever??

I haven't seen Gamer, but I thought Surrogates was pretty interesting. It was certainly a flawed film - fairly predictable, action was OK but nothing special. And there were a few parts of it that made me think that it had been heavily edited down - there was one action sequence that felt like there was chunk of it lying on the cutting room floor, and it seemed like someone had told them to change the natural ending into something slightly less depressing (if you've seen it, I hope you know what I mean). I'd quite like to see a Director's Cut, (or at least see some of the scenes that had been chopped quite crudely out). In addition, I thought they hadn't really worked out the effects that surrogate technology would have on society properly. It wouldn't eliminate crime in the manner they implied, but rather would simply reduce the vast majority of crimes to vandalism. They wouldn't be eliminating murder, since you could just go to people's homes and kill them in their chairs if you wanted to. Unless they all lived in secure facilities...but they clearly don't.

On the plus side, I thought it was pretty entertaining - reminded me a lot of I, Robot in more ways than one, but with (ever so slightly) less blatent product placement. I think as a thriller it works reasonably well, though I would argue that the plot of the film is not what you should watch this particular film for. I was particularly impressed by the post-production work - not the big special effects, but the little alterations they had made to all the surrogates faces that made them seem so creepy and inhuman. Rosamund Pike was particularly good at pulling off that slightly robotic effect. It all contributed to give the film a tinge of wrongness, which went especially well with the well-realised future world that they had going. When you followed the Bruce Willis through the city of shining, beautiful people, the director did a great job of making it all a little too manicured and neat, just subtly too perfect. Atmospherically, it was spot on, particularly the contrast between life in the no-surrogate zones and the wider world at large. And that was the key, what made the film worth going to see in my view. I think Surrogates is worth seeing, flaws and all, mainly for that reason.

Transformers 2. Oh, it was shit. I liked the first one, the second was awful.

Observe and Report was decent, for what it was. A few mindless laughs, no problem.

Watched Red Sonja last night for the first time in years. Still fun.

Watched Paranormal Activity the other day, was so dissappointed..with all the hype and my friends saying they lost days of sleep...it was all very meh..two hours wasted of my life

also watched 2012, not bad if you want to see the world torn apart, not much on story or characters and some of the stunts were too much (even for this kind of film) but still good for some mindless entertainment..and the Vatican scene sentt a chill down my spine!

Gamer was just about what you would expect. It seemed like they tried to make the ending a 'twist', but failed.

Surrogates was interesting. Action was meh, but the atmosphere was right. Ending was obvious-ish, and parts of the film felt like they were missing something, but it was certainly an interesting movie. (Edit - Thursday's review is much more in depth, and better said than mine)

Yes I saw Gummo it was one of the wierdest films... I dunno nothing really happened yet it was quite intriguing nonetheless...

@Jagsa - not thought of it before but am now! We just got Dynasty Warriors 5, and are loving it! Would definitely like to watch Red Cliff.
