As someone who has participated in several Tall Ships Races, I hate that film. It's just so... eugh. At least the PotC films used real sailors to sail their boats for them and point out any screaming inaccuracies.

I hear they are making some X-Men: Origins films, the first one being Wolverine. Should be good. Also hear they are making Spiderman 4, so people aren't left with Spiderman 3 as the last movie in the franchise...

Oh yes, they're well into filming the Wolverine movie. I know this because Heat magazine has been full of pictures of Hugh working out (it was my sisters copy, HONEST!!!) *drool*

Having just watched the first X-men film again, it's hilarious how bad some of the special effects are. Some of them are very good, but the fights... hilarious :(

What exactly was so bad about X-men 3 and Spiderman 3?

I watched Speed Racer last night and absolutely loved it! It was exciting almost the whole way through.

That surprises me. I haven't seen it, but haven't heard much good about it.

X-Men 3 just jumped even further away from the "true" X-Men story, IMO. The acting was bad to horrible in places, and the ending was just....idiotic. You stopped the Juggernaut by him running into a wall after you "phased" through the floor??!?!?! He's the FUCKING JUGGERNAUT!!! Oh...and he's not a fucking mutant in the first place so he wouldn't be affected by any negation of Mutant abilities! :(

Spiderman 3 had that one abhorrent 20 minute span when he was "Bad Spidey". The whole scene where he's wearing black, dancing with that douche bag haircut, and generally being the lamest piece of shit ever was just unforgivable. I almost waked out...no shit. I also didn't like Topher Grace as Venom....Venom is a bad ass, not some skinny geekazoid. The rest of the movie wasn't bad but not anything remarkable.

Ah, so I guess it's not a bad thing that I've seen neither of them. I might keep it that way.

Both movies have some cool parts, but I was very disappointed in the total product.

They got greedy. They went over the top with certain elements in each movie and it hurt the overall series of both movies.

Plus, it's hard to satisfy a die-hard X-Men fan like me. I grew up on those comics, and it was an uphill battle from the start.

That scene was absolutely retarded.

I thought Topher did a good job, but they should have left that particular storyline out entirely (to cover it in more detail in yet another sequel) and let Spiderman deal only with the Sandman and the Green Goblin in the movie. The second movie ended with Harry's discovery of the situation, so it had to be dealt with in the next movie.

Thomas Haden Church was awesome as the Sandman. I was actually touched by the dramatic stuff and the special effects were pretty good.

I haven't seen X3. I don't know if I'll get around to it either.

A character like Venom deserves all the attention and screen time, I agree.

Venom actually beat Spidey several times in the comics. He was also not technically a "bad guy". He was cool because he would protect those he thought as innocent but kill or beat down those he felt were not.

Now Carnage, that was a psychotic killing baddie to behold. Very cool.

Wasn't carnage another version of Venom, only more mean? I never read enough vomics as a kid.

Well I don't know what a vomic is....:(.....but the comics I read when I was little were sweet.

Carnage was a psychotic version of Venom. He was a serial killer who obtained an alien symbiotic suit and took the combined powers of Spiderman and Venom to take down. As well as a Sound Amplifier or whatever it was that hurts the alien suits....

What if a piece of the suit had gotten ahold of superman. That would have been wicked.

Meh. I was always a MARVEL guy...never really read DC Comics.

It's weird. Most people I knew growing up were either one or the other...rarely both....at least in my hood

In my limited comic book knowledge, I've always thought Superman to be the lamest superhero ever, which is why I won't ever see the movie. (See how I brought us back on topic?) The goddamn Batman has always appealed to me. Spidey has a classic charm too.

Yeah Batman was the only comic I ever read of DC. He's a bad ass.

Superman is a tool.

I'm looking forward to the Wolverine movie. He pretty much rocks, My only complaint is he's a little overpowered, but not too badly. Personality is rocking though.
