Watched Ultraviolet the other night again too on the free blu-rays I got with the PS3. Gotta say that the HD didnt save the movie one bit. It is still utterly, entirely and wholly bad. If it wasnt' for the awesome little dimension-shifting things on her wrists that she keeps her sword and guns in, I'd throw out the dvd.

Watched Gone Baby Gone last night... Liked it.
I thought it got a bit tired in the middle for about a 10 minute stretch - right after the whole ransom thing gone awry... Good acting, good scripting, and good story otherwise. I liked the noir atmosphere mixing with the urban low income dynamic.
The dilemma that Casey Affleck faces at the end was interesting. I honestly don't know what I'd have done in the same position - the wife felt so too.
Not a must watch, but a definite recommendation.

Gonna watch the Simpsons Movie tonight - I have heard bad things about it (and some good) but I waited for them to do a movie for so long, I figured I would watch it whatever...

its all good man. People were extra picky about it, as they would be with any movie with such a huge fanbase, but I found it super entertaining. More like the simpsons of old than the more recent seasons.

Good good. I am looking forward to it - I mean I used to watch The Simpsons fanatically, though I don't any more (I have Scrubs. What more do I need?
) so I think I will enjoy it.

In the "It's Gotten Terrible Reviews" category: I watched Jumper last night, and I didn't hate it. It was a fun little popcorn movie; nothing groundbreaking, certainly, but it kept me entertained for an hour and a half.
Also watched Run, Fatboy, Run. It wasn't nearly as good as I was hoping, but it was an enjoyable little romcom.

@Tiste - Yeah, but, per the reviews, I wasn't expecting much, so I didn't have that let down factor.

Why? Disregarding its relative merits or lack thereof, the movie is meant to be entertainment. I don't see how a 120 minutes of ugly, unwashed hairy people running around grunting at each other would be all that fun to watch. You can get that sort of thing on the Discovery Channel. Or Apt's house.

@ Abyss:
"Quest for Fire" was an awesome movie. While the ending is apparently not morphologicaly possible the rest was well done.
10 000 B.C. looks ridiculous. I read what the director had to say about it in Sci-Fi magazine. All I have to say is that his research extends to "I saw something about the improbable Lost Civilisation theory on Discovery at 1 am when the less credible paranoid conspiracy shows are played. And I thought 'Hey this is awesome!'"
So of course not doing any research beyond that 30 minute show, he comes out with a movie about a civilisation predating the Egyptians (because we all now that the Egyptians are the oldest and everything else sprang out of nowhere 1000 years later in Greece) and that would have inspired them later when the Old Kingdom came to be, set south of Abydos near the Blue and White Niles convergence.
Of course there's some god-king who sends out raiding parties to get chicks or some random warlords get chicks and sell them to this delusional king. This leads the main character on a huge quest to find his GF and seek vengeance.
It's like something a 3 year old would write.
And Wolf is right, the perfect cosmetics of the non-civilized tribes is downright laughable.
Accuary in a movie would be fun, something with substance that isn't some silly absurd art film trying too hard to get some bizarre message across at some subconcious level.

I saw Jumper yesterday aswell. After having read only negative reviews from people here on the the forum and having not seen any trailers I expected it to be bad. Ben Affleck Daredevil bad. I was surprised to find it good.
It's a different type of "super powered humans" film. The main character isn't a good guy but not bad either. The concept of the jumper, jump points and the physics of what they can take with them, along with the EEEVIL PAAALADIIIINS was cool... in a "my inner child is happy" sort of way.
Samuel Jackson looked ridiculous but I'm still scared of the guy.
The star wars kid was okay I guess, but much like my hate for Leonardo DiCaprio, I think I'm going to spend the rest of my life disliking the guy simply because of his emo portrail of Anakin Cry me a river Skywalker.
----
On another note, today I watched Highlander Source and Highlander: Vengeance (animated picture)
Highlander Source managed the impossible and seemed even worse than Highlander Endgame. It's a pitty because the concept was okay'ish... for about 5 minutes. You just knew it wasn't going to be terrible when the movie opens with a introduktion reading: In the near future.... "NOOO THIS IS THE HIGHLANDER 2 SYNDROME!!!"
Highlander Vengance was one of those japanese Anime type things, if you like the stuff it's going to entertain you with the sheer amount of gore and ridiculous combat sequences. It was sort of ruined by the portrail of the bad guy as being completely superior untill the very end where McCloud has moment of "Oh after 2000 years I see the error of my ways, bla bla bla, wenting of hot air, bla bla" and then kills the bad guy... Pffh. Still, ten times as good as Source.

There is a very simple reason why Jumper was a lot worse than it should have been. Hayden Christiansen. Change him for someone who can actually act, and the film would have been infinitely better...

Well, I just tried to watch In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege..., emphasis on the tried. I was thinking, "Hey, it's a fantasy movie, it's got to have something I'll like." Wrong!
This is just a complete shitpile...unwatchable IMO. I can't believe all these successful and renowned actors signed on...or that some studio trusted Uwe Boll with their money. Steer clear.

I agree Jumper was deff. better then what some people made it out to be... though why they fought over the bomb I have no clue... it was a good plan, and it shouldn’t have been to hard to get her out... (The star's plan was incredibly worse)
Sigh* I am a huge highlander fan, and so I was completely disappointed by the source....It had such a good opportunity to be a good movie; with Methos as a staring character... I didn’t even mind the futuristic world as much as I was pissed by them becoming mortal and then the lame plot line with the guardian.....horrible ending to top it off....
The anime one was meh....he wasn’t even a highlander. He was a Roman boy lover....but still all things considered it was not that bad...

Why does anyone let Uwe Boll do anything? Bloodrayne was just pure awful! I felt like pouring acid on my eyes after watching that. I will definitely avoid that one...

After the mound of fail that was ItNotK, I opted for Water Horse: Legend of the Deep. Not too bad; Nessy was a cute pup. It wasn't overly sentimental, and it was well made. Definitely a family film, though.

I was searching brainz for that movie title and came up blank, but thanks for the ref.
That said, we differ on analysis - i found QUEST dull to watch and all kinds of silly.

OK so I really enjoyed the Simpsons Movie last night. It was fairly dumb but still funny, and my favourite character was Maggie - how she just kept randomly turning up and saving everyone etc. Good stuff. We watched Man on Fire afterwards, and it just reminded me how awesome that film was!
