Shiara, some friends and I are going to see 'Children of Men'. I have always wanted to read the book but never got around to it. I didn't know there was a movie until yesterday when I was drawing on the table clothe at the eatery and there was a lump so i lifted up the table cloth to find Clive Owens looking back at me....joy ![:D](https://forum.malazanempire.com/public/style_emoticons/Malazan/D.gif)
EDIT:
I would really like to say something about this movie that would convince you all to go and see it but I fear I am inadequate when it comes to describing things of such importance and emotion. I believe you should all go and see 'Children of Men' regardless of whether it is your usual kind of movie. No one who sees this movie could possible walk away from it without being moved or touched or utterly concerned or angry or some such strong emotion. If they can then my faith in humanity is sorely optimistic. I really recommend you see it. If not for the story then for the brilliant acting and cameramanship - the entire main rescue scene is all on shot - it gives the movie a very personal and empathic feel.

Hot Fuzz is going to be awesome. Oh yes it is ![:D](https://forum.malazanempire.com/public/style_emoticons/Malazan/D.gif)

Saw The Departed last week. Good film, actually, though it should be with a cast like that (ignoring DiCaprio).

Going to see "Last King of Scotland" Looking forward to it. Will report back later...
EDIT - So, it wasn't quite as great as the hype, but all right. They could have done away with the doctor guy (who was a made-up character) because he served no real purpose in the film. Forest Whitaker was good as Idi Amin, like a great lethal teddy bear. They should have focused more on him, then the Oscar buzz might be justified.

OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

I enjoyed the film. But I got a bit tired of the political subtext. I think I have current-global-political-climate fatigue.

I'm downloading it now so I don't have to leave my room to go and watch it at the movies.

Going to go watch The Prestige when it comes out next month (already out in the States). The novel is a masterpiece and the reviews of the film are pretty positive, several calling it Chris Nolan's best film (which means better than Batman Begins, Memento and Amnesia, which are all pretty good).

Oh, I'm supposed to be going to the cinema in a minute but there's f*ck all showing at this time of day, which means I have to see the devil wears prada, or wait until this evening to see something good.

And the winner for best movie of 2006 (not that it had much competition) is....
The Departed.
FINALLY something worth seeing. It was going to be pretty sad if my favorite stayed Snakes on a Plane.

I'd say the winner is 'Children of Men' - which is also good otherwise my favourite movie would also have stayed as 'Snakes on a Plane'

Traitors!
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

I loved the Departed. I think there were significant departures from Infernal Affairs to make it stand alone. I feel they really got the Boston "feel" right. A friend of mine from Boston said the accents were dead-on, even DiCaprio. Of course, Wahlberg and Damon should be able to do those accents in their sleep but the rest of the cast did well too. Nicholson only did a couple of "Jack" things - other than that he stayed in character.

Just got back for The Departed
****ing fantastic! Best film I have seen this year. I heard alot of negative beef about this film; but I was pleasantly surprised when I left the cinema shaking my head.
Wahlberg In his best performance since Boogie Nights.

Saw Borat this weekend. It was mildly entertaining. Kinda "Jackass" style gross humor. They smartly kept the movie short so our hero doesn't wear out his welcome. You can wait for video.

Saw it on saturday. It was a very enjoyable film, with clever plot twists and intruiging characters. I would have to say that sometimes there were too many flashabcks etc. - as in there were flashbacks of flashbacks within flashbacks, but apart from that I truly enjoyed watching it.
And I never knew whether I was supposed to like Christian Bale's character or Hugh Jackman - convincing performances from both of them!

I just the Prestige this afternoon.
I very much liked it.
And I want to make babies with Piper Perabo (Jackman's character's wife).
