I just watched Jaws (again! - hadn't seen it in ages though). Great film!
I love it when you watch an old classic that you haven't seen in ages.
Outstanding!

Thought Serenity was OK.
Heard mixed reports about V for Vendetta - some dodgy, some not bad, but also had one particular recommendation from someone that I know has good taste - so I plan to see it at some point.

Not a movie, but Rome deserves mentioning (finished it last night). It is a really great series - imho even a bit better than Firefly :)

Repetitive? The first scary movie was repetitive. It was a spoof of Scream, which was itself a spoof on the slasher genre. You can't spoof a spoof. Then the sequels came out, getting more and more embarassing each time.

Alright, I'll admit I haven't seen 3 and 4. But Scary Movie 1 and 2 are probably two of the bottom five movies of all time, I promise. Not one single funny moment in either movie, not a single original idea (comedy requires original ideas... that's what's funny!), not a single insightful take on the genre (spoofs only work if they provide some insight to the genre they're sending up!). Basically, complete utter trash of the worst order.

I die a little inside every time someone says they enjoyed even one single moment in a Scary Movie.

I only managed to sit through the first 1/2 of the first one.

What rid you to watch the second one?

loved V for Vendetta.. Seen it too many times already ^^.. Agent Smith does a most exceptional role as V. And this might be the only movie I know that manages to portray dayly life totalitarism.. No armed guards on every corner, no huge metal fences and stuff. Everything seems normal

Scary movie.. hm, not really funny I thought, tho I must admitt I've seen the three first... The third just because I have a weak spot for Leslie Nielsen :)

I used to have this philosophy that I shouldn't criticise movies I haven't seen.

Turns out, I'm usually right, so now I freely knock piece of **** movies I haven't seen, like Scary Movie 4.

Woohoo! Finally someone talking some sense. I dispair at all those idiots who think Scary Movie is fantastic because it's "mocking movies like scream". People are so stupid.

I have no qualms about knocking movies I haven't seen. I haven't seen Scary movie (any of them) and nothing could make me torture myself in that way.

It's not worth it. It's like all the people who told me "Don't watch Showgirls. It's not even worth watching just to see how bad it is." They were right. I was almost sick after watching that piece of crap. I wish I could unwatch it.

actually.. I generaly agree that you cannot mock movies you haven't seen. Claiming a movie is bad if you haven't seen it is ridiculous I think..

However, mocking a movies theme, what it stands for etc is another thing all together.

Saw Mission:Impossible 3 this weekend, only because Philip Seymour Hoffman plays the bad guy, and it was directed by JJ Abrams (the creator of Lost).

It wasn't bad. The plot is pretty thin, but you hardly notice because Abrams keeps the action moving moving moving. It's really more of a ride than a story. The opening sequence does a good job of hooking you into the movie (instead of the expected action set-piece, it uses Abrams' favorite device from the opening bits of Alias - I won't say more but Abrams fans will know what I'm talking about). Hoffman was inspired casting as the bad guy, though the role doesn't use even a tenth of what he could do (was probably refreshing for him after coming off "Capote").

A true summer popcorn movie - big, loud, expensive, and mindless. If you're in the mood for that kind of thing, I recommend it.
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

You've all gotta see Torque one day. I saw it in theaters, then quickly purchased it on it's release date.

I can officially claim ownership of the absolute worst movie ever concieved.

M:I3 today, just for something to do... meh. Hoffman was good, I guess, but it's not a franchise known for stunning performances, is it?:)

There's a family guy movie?! When did that happen? Have I been living under a rock or something?

Saw MI3 as well. They shoud have given Hoffman a bigger role. That man was born to play the role of evil. Could predict the ending after about half way through the movie. Was hoping for a big twist but unfortunately it wasn't supplied.
For anyone that likes a bit of comic relief I'd recommend Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. It's out on DVD and I thought that it was brill. Starring the beautiful Michelle Monaghan(MI3) uuhhhh and Robert Downey Junior or Val Kilmer for da ladies

The one thing I really hated about the mission impossible movies was the face masks. It just sets it up for an endless 'A-hah!' moments that you really, really hate.

I caught the last hour of Pearl Harbour on tv last night. Yes, I know you're all laughing now. I knew it was bad. I was having one of those evenings where you're too lazy to even press the tv remote. Curiosity got the better of me and I had to see just how bad it could get. I saw the first 30mins ages ago and knew the general plot. There are no words to describe how bad it was, so I won't even try! B.A.D.
