Germans, I need you!

A bit random I know, but I need help from Germans or any of you who've livedin Germany that can tell me a simple answer.
Basically, in the UK, when you fill in an official form there are a selection of options for your nationality/ethnic background for you to choose from. The options are usually something like:
- White (British)
- White (other)
- Black (afro-carribean)
- Black (African)
- Chinese
- Bangladeshi
- Pakistani
- Indian
- Other (please specify)
As you can see, a curious sampling that forces you to choose between a confused collection of race, ethnicity and nationality.
In Germany, what do they ask on their official forms? Is it something similar, involving a mixture of things, or is it just a simple choice, like White/Black/Asian/Oriental etc.
Help would be much appreciated, Im trying to locate some German documents to do it myself, but Im sort of guessing about where to look so no luck so far, this would help me immeasurably.
Danke meine Damen und Herren!

Ah, I love seeing the word "Moderator" pop up in the sidebar next to your posts, Apt.
It's like some sort of cosmic whimsy

I'm not even going to comment about how I was treated in the discussion forums compared to Apt making light of the longest and most well-known attempt at genocide ever.

It's because he's Danish, everyone knows they're secret Nazis anyway. That's why they put up resistance for all of oh no wait they didnt. And now they have Trem who looks exactly like Herr Flick. Coincidence?! I think not. Denmark is now the secret home of the plan from the Boys From Brazil.

you might want to check www.london.diplo.de (site of the German embassy, conveniently for you, it's in English).
I checked their passport application form on that site and the one thing where they want to know colour is that of the eyes.
I think Germany has become fairly conscious of race/ skin and documenting it after 40-45, whereas GBmight not have changed their forms since the good old colonial days

I haven't dealt with German documents directly, but from what I know and from what I've googled just now, they are not different from Austrian ones, and the only thing you get asked here is your body height, colour of your eyes and gender. You are also asked about your citizenship or in some cases your previous citizenships, but that's all.
The problem with people who have no vices is that generally you can be pretty sure they're going to have some pretty annoying virtues.

Don't know if this is in time, but as far as I know, the only thing you're asked frequently is nationality, but nothing as fancy as race or ethnicity. But to be honest, I have never paid any special attention to that.

Been a while, but from what I recall the selection is not as confusing as that one. Something closer to the American or Canadian sets,
ie:
White-European
African
Oriental
Middle-Eastern
Caucasian
Latino
American Aboriginee
