I have to (mostly) agree with apt, i liked the plot, but the "Ethic mumbling" kept getting on my nerves. Thats what I like about Erikson. He lets you choose ( well, mostly he will write towards one of the choices, but he doesn't deem the other one as "evil") It is the reality I like, and the further Goodkind came, the more it went to "Ethic raving"

Don't you mean "ethic raping"? Lol. ;)

Yes, you could see it that way, for he, in your words "rapes" ethics and very ignorant to others says "This is the only true way of living, if you won't, sod off and die"

What is this ? The spanish inquistion ? (NO ONE EXPECTS THE SPANISH INQUISITION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry just couldn't resist)

Lol i only got through the first 2 books and i was over TG. excessive rape scenes, lame storytelling and constant repitition of the root story (RR finds out some bad thing about to happen, goes on a quest, saves the world and all is good and happy for a while. AND then TG starts F#ucking writing again!!! :harhar: )

Volkh, it's hardly the worst thing ever posted but I've had a couple of complaints about the above comment please can you tone it down a little in future.

Less rape, homophobic insults and ethnic stereotyping if you would be so kind. I'm sure as much as we can all agree Goodkind is a douchebag, I wouldn't want another human to be gangraped.

You know, Goodkinds readers will mostly be noobs in reading fantasy, I mean, I liked it five years ago (at 14) but I read all fantasy pulp at that moment.

Now, with more reading behind me of writers like Cook, Hobb and above all Erikson ( I started reading those at 15) I get more apreciation of what is well written, and that which is the eternal yawning strugle between sanctimonious good and proclaimed caricaturesque evil.

My friend's mum is extremely well read in fantasy and yet still continues to extol TG's literary virtues to me. It does appeal to those with a warped world view, not just noobs. The whole "I'm right, so deal with it" crowd.

So glad to have found this thread :( I too gave up after the third or fourth book. I didn't take kindly to being continuously bludgeoned with Goodkind's so-called moral code of conduct nor to being exposed to his decidedly misogynistic viewpoint. That the guy has issues with those of the female persuasion is very clear.

I can't believe any of you made the slog to the fifth book. By the end of the first I was questioning my sanity for having gone that far.

Indeed, I'm afraid we're going to have to ask you to vacate the premises if you continue to use curse words such as that. This is an environment that is meant to be safe for the mentally deranged, disturbed, demented and otherwise challenged individuals!
Screw you all, and have a nice day!

Did someone say Goodkind?
There's a skeleton living inside of you, he's just waiting for you to die to be free.
