So I just discovered Call of Duty 4s online feature.

Yes, yes, old game is old, get with the programme, etc. but I just bought the game cheap and my god this is a fun waste of time.

I am at best a mediochre gamer, so I get my ass kicked 2 times out of 3, but man this is great.

I don't know if anyone else thought of it before the developers of CoD but the whole achievement system is a devious method of making sure I just have to take one more round, just another 100 exp, just the last couple of headshots to unlock the next level, etc.

Anyone else played CoD 5 yet? I've heard it's nothing great but there's some improvement on the multiplyer. New levels if nothing else.

CoD 5 was a let-down. No improvements on the multiplayer, because they broke hardcore mode, the nubs :p

Any map with tanks is pretty much broken.

CoD 4 I still play pretty regularly, (last night in fact) and I loved it.

Play CoD 4 for an hour, then put cod5 in, you will run like 30-3. 4 is a better game all around, and the people in it are much better as well. Nearly all my friends have gone back to 4 because it is a better game.

Simple reason for that...WWII shooters are done to death and no longer fun. I skipped it all together and I'lll wait for 6.

But really Apt, just go get Gears 2.

and someone said, "I'm so hungry I could eat a whole pizza."

I said, "I bet I could eat 100 pizzas," and no one understood me. I was sad.

Uhm? COD 4 and 5 are set in the 90s? and during the vietnam war, no?

Anyway, I played the first Gears on PC and while it was interesting I wasn't impressed. Not that great graphics (for pc), no real precision, everything feels like you're on a rail and all that popping behind conviniently placed shelters and weird action didn't really do it for me.

On the other hand I liked the concept of the locust. Just too bad they did so little to utilise it. The story was crap, there weren't enough giant monsters, it wasn't that scary, etc.

CoD4 is 'modern warfare' - CoD 5 is WWII.

Well 4 was modern, 5 goes back to...whenever, I don't care, I want modern.

They've done a great deal with the story and length on Gears 2 campaign. It's actually got a story now, which is new, and it's considerably longer...I've been playing on and off for some time now and I'm still not done. Monsters are bigger, smarter and plentiful. Guns are bigger and some are more powerful. I'd recommend checking it out.

CoD:WaW doesn't equal CoD:5.

Anyway CoD4 may be one of my favorite games ever, I played that to death and still hop on once in a while. Right now I am playing online CoD:WaW since I love the multiplayer and needed some new maps and such. The WW2 setting is lame and the idea to include tanks sucks but it is still fun.

I would still be playing CoD4 much more if there were more prestige levels, I stopped once I got maxed to 10th.

What is your K:D in CoD4? That is what I am working on... I should finish Skorpion headshots to get the golden mini-uzi, but meh.

CoD 4 online is awesome.
but frustrating, especially when the other players start on the squakbox and you realise they're all 14 year olds, handing your ass to you on a plate

I was reading that they're taking suggestions for the next installment in the series now. Probably on some official forum or something. I think it was in PC gamer that I read it....can't remember.

I haven't played 5, but a buddy hammers it constantly. His main complaint was that the maps are just a rambo-fest. Smaller, more symmetric and less cover. Less opportunity for sniping...plus he was saying going back to WWII after having Modern Warfare was just all around kinda ghey.

I definitely still play 4 quite a bit. Its a weekly event for me and a couple friends to sit down, smoke a bowl, shoot up some talibans and advance through the levels.

I suck massive balls at the game though. Usually kill less than 5 in a round.

If you go to gamespy they have a link to the website where they are asking what suggestions you want or dont want in the next COD game.

Despite the fact neither company has actually announced the next cod, I believe it is going to be modern warfare, if with a different title.

Who is Vizzini? You in the US? if you have it on 360 we should play some time. I tried to play with DIBS but any host we connected to one of us had only one or two bars.

@CF - I wish I hadn't paid for 5. It is super easy to dominate maps, especially if you get a tank. The maps are either much bigger or much smaller, dogs are easy to not be hurt by if you aren't bad, but they destroy your bad teammates...

@dink

yeah, not going to buy it. I thought I might rent it for a try but my friend's review (and I saw it at his house) was tepid at best. Kinda turned me off it.

My suggestions for the new one (which are likely in line with most peoples' desires):

1- (and foremost) Ability to permanently mute the screeching 12 year olds permanently all the time, even in the lobby
2- Have the ability to browse servers and see what maps are in their rotation (like warhawk)
3- Modern warfare
4- Some maps (like wet work) should have no airstrikes....they're just dumb on maps like that.

Not much suggestion on gameplay, its pretty damn smooth in 4 overall

Obdi is humperdick yeah?
Well I am stalker, and yes I am USA so I'd be happy to play sometime.

I've tried playing with Dibs on Gears 2 and it didn't work well either.

Vizz,

my gamertag is 'obdigore', I doubt yours is stalker :p

Send me a friend request and tell me who you are, I don't accept random friend requests.

1) you can. highlight them, hit Y, view their profile, go to 'mute', click A, exit out, takes like 5-10 seconds when you are used to doing it.
2) All maps are in the mix, and its random which is coming next.
3) Yup
4) Heck no, its easy to avoid airstrikes on any map unless you don't see them coming.

Suggestions I want:
1) The ability to be 'picked up' by the chopper and control the gun.
2) Take Juggernaut and Stopping Power out.
3) M16 needs to be nerfed, or the other guns need to be balanced. M16 is stupidly OP.
4) UAV Jammer, I want a 'Local Radar' that goes through uav jammer when a uav is up (only for me), on the same perk slot as jammer.
5) If a friendly/enemie dies, I want to be able to pick up and use any 'nades he has left, instead of just his weapon.
6) no-scoping with a sniper needs to be much less accurate. Especially with the semi-auto rifles.
7) no vehicles.
8) vote to boot laggers... the people with 1-2 bars that 'blink' around the map on purpse and use a p90 to spray, they are impossible to kill unless they run over your grenade.
9) NO NUBTUBS.

I think thats my entire list :p

I've been playing the Multiplayer COD4 a bit now, I die twice for every person I kill, but that's mostly because I just speed around like a madman constantly running into the sights of a sniper/camper, trigger a mine or get killed by Martyr. Nothing more satisfying than knifing snipers.

I absolutly HATE wetworks and that missile silo map. Gods these places are horrible. I'm actually pretty surprised that after two years? there's only about 10 multiplayer maps in regular use. I'm guessing that most of the servers have excluded some and favor others, but I find the selection laughable. They're mostly too big for less than 10 players because it takes forever to find each other but they're also too small for huge grouping like the 35-40 man servers where there's basically 5 people constantly spawning on the same location and everything just turns into a giant clusterfuck.

Ok I'll send the request later, and you are correct that it isn't Stalker.

Stalker is a good name in this context since he is an ICE character, but in other places it is just creepy and weird.

I think Stalker in a COD sense is a great handle.
