Did you like the first one, Mac? Because this film really just is more of the same, same flaws, same excellent parts, same humor.

Comparing Revenge of the Fallen with T3 is grocely unfair... espcially since they never made a Terminator 3.

EDIT: I will how ever admit that the "Twins" were terrible characters design wise, clearly the Jar Jar Binks of the series.

The first one was enjoyable, the second one totally matrixed the franchise.
I remain fixed in this position and do not intend on altering my very correct stance

Well, seing as Matrix two and three were even more awesome than the first one, I will agree that they did indeed "matrix" the film :p

Thanks, Apt, now I have to change my shirt after your comment made me cough up some blood. Like, some dark red with clotted lumps of black type blood. You know, the sort you get from seeing an opinion that is TOTALLY AND UTTERLY WRONG IN EVERY CONCEIVABLE ASPECT
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Silly chicken, yet another victim of a delusional belief that the first Matrix was some how more profound or better written than the sequals.

The only difference between the first and the other two is that the special effects became better and better.

People only think the first one was best because it came out back when the widescreen/DVD phenomenon was new and people thought it was shiny. When the next films were released people had adjusted and the films no longer seemed revolutionary.

That doesn't change the fact that, like the transformer films, the Matrix films were packed with awesome effects and a great sci-fi story. If I want amazing dialogue I'll read shakespear or watch pulpfiction, if I want an amazing, tight manuscript I'll go watch some boring artsy fartsy oscar winning flick. If I want amazing effects over the top action, I'll go watch the likes of Transformers or the Matrix.

Seriously, go watch Revenge of the Fallen and tell me that the "Optimus last stand" scene or revealing of Devastator wasn't worth the ticket alone.

I really love the robots in Transformers.

YOU ARE SO WRONG IT HURTS

Just pointing out that I'm probably going to enjoy the new Transformers a lot (at least the non-human focused parts) but the Matrix sequels had a story that can only be described as retarded, special effects that varied from quite good to someone manipulating Poser models by gluing the mouse/stylus/whichever to their dick and having a wank, dialogue that killed my sister and so many plot holes that it would be easier to think of the script as a few circles of plot lost in a vast empty void of stupidity.

Who cares about the plot when you have a hundred agent smiths battling super neo? Or millions of flying metal octopuses being blown out of the air by huge battle mechs, or an ending with the hero and bad guy flying around in the air hitting each other so hard it shatters glass for miles around, or creepy albino ghost killers going through anything.

Seriously, the films had the character Agent Smith in them. That is enough for me. He is the best movie villain EVER... period... any other claims are just plain wrong.

And as for the dialogue. I loved the french Merrowinger guy, and Agent Smith, and the Architect, etc.

Who cares about the plot when you have a hundred CGI figures in suits being flailed against a CGI figure reverend? Or millions of flying metal octopuses killing themselves in droves against the worst designed defense machines ever built, or an ending with enough Jesus symbolism to choke an angel and Agent Elrond and Bill from Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure either forgetting the training from movie one or having a competition to see who can fail choreography the worst, or creepy albino ghost killers being cool for fifteen minutes before getting killed off and having to go back to Carol Vorderman's Better Homes.

The sequels were such wasted potential, really.

Sadly, one awesome character does not make a film good. Otherwise the evil prince in Stardust would have made that movie not shit.

Again, Agent V. Elrond was the best part of the sequels. As for the rest? We'll find you some help one day.

but in fairness to our danish wheelchair thief,
you have to admit Macros,

every flaw you label this film with can easily be applied to the first transformers film:

Shit Dialogue - yep "you are the strangest boy I ever met"

plot holes - how can megatron speak english? If megatron knew the allspark was there umpteen hundred years ago, why the hell didn't he bring more of his boys to help him find it back in the day?

attempt to comedically humanise robots - Jazz. seriously, his whole gangsta schtick was weak.

shitty attempts at comedy - for me, the whole scene where megan fox says she likes muscle bound guys and Shia starts flexing was painful. I felt sorry for him watching that part of the film. Also, Shia being interviewed by the police.

Using comedy to carry the plot and storyline - John Turturro's character. Anthony Anderson's too for that matter. Or even Bernie Mac's, though he;s only in it for about 3 minutes.

seriously, I don't think the first film is as good as you seem to think it is.

This is a solid sequel to the first
but, in a more spoilerific sense:

Spoiler

meh. Link was dead :(

I have to agree with Apt here, it was what I expected and enjoyed the hell out of it. If i want a "good" dramatic movie i'll go watch something on IFC. It was a fun movie that kept me entertained.

I really enjoyed it. Went to the midnight show with some friends and got 2.5 hours of sleep before work but it was worth it.

Hell, I would have bought a ticket just because of Megan Fox heh

I still love the Architect scene:

http://www.youtube.c...TDSLaDZHLo&NR=1

We're getting off topic here, but the architect actually mentions something I didn't remember. They are talking about the anomoly, the people who reject the matrix reality and how it's connected with Zion.

He actually says at around 5.00 minutes in that they have destroyed Zion 5 times before, which implies it is indeed not the 23 century but more likely thousands and thousands of years after the first machine war. That's interesting, certainly explains some off the odd things happening outside the matrix, like Neo having powers in the "real world" as well as inside the Matrix.

5000 years ago mean weren't shooting lighting bolts out of their ass, they were coming down from the sky.
Same as now.
