We have seen the 'mini Karsas', champooon. They showed up in Darujhistan to help Karsa, so whichever story he features in most likely will they.

So with Ublala calling Karsa a god or confusing him for one are we going to Karsa becoming some sort of Dassembrae/Rake type guy who denies his godhood etcetera etcetera

Karsa negates magic,
and so the more worshipers he gains,
the less magic there will be in the world,
and the more Gods and ascendants he will kill.
Like an Otataral Dragon he will destroy.
Like an Elder God he will not show mercy.
Unlike the Son of Darkness,
he will not sacrifice himself,
not even for the love of a woman.
Because that would be too obvious.
And we will WITNESS!!

Or something else will happen.
Also good.
Urb will witness.
Hopefully within the next 10 years or so...
The leader, his audience still,
considered their scholarly will.
He lowered his head
and with anguish he said,
"But how will we teach them to kill?"

Since I just read this part a couple days ago, it's fresh in my mind. Karsa's sword is unbreakable because the T'lan Imass/Teblor gods invested it with the Warren of Tellan. It has something of a will of its own because it was infused with Bairoth's cutting irony and Delum's fierce loyalty. Bairoth's "stepping aside" would accomplish... what? Hard to tell. SE could justify a large number of surprises with that setup.

I predict that people die and stuff gets destroyed.
I know, this must be incredibly helpful to you all.

I predict atleast one of his daughters will have a viewpoint but that Karsa might not be a POV character. In the smae way that Rake isnt a POV character in the Kharkanas novels

The trilogy is set after The Crippled God and is about Karsa. Steve reveals this in this video interview...

Is he going to write it interchangeably with the Kharkanas trilogy or will he first finish that one?

So Calm is going to take Karsa out because the Forkrul Assail don't like change? I'd completely forgotten all this.
She means she'll kill him because he'll have become too dangerous...but Ublala was like FU Calm and pwnd her with his giant weapon... oh yes, you know it. She could not take the heat.
So now Karsa, any destiny, prophecy etc etc on him is all liable to change, I personally hope SE does him massive warlord justice and spanks the empire to pieces with an army of Tarthenal badasses and samar dev complaining about how being pregnant with Karsa Spawn is causing her grief. HA! SE DO IT!

Karsa is already an ascendant, Knight of Chains, and so badass he rejects all the demands of his house XD HA! Beyond ascendancy that one. He wouldn't accept being a god I dont think. He would be more of a warleader, 1st amongst equals type...only harder, meaner, tougher and infinitely cooler than the others by far. A lot of his character has to do with learning the deeper compassionate stuff in life which is why SE says he is so developed and deep compared to some of the other players.
Dassem has left a lot of his godhood behind, but I dont think Karsa would allow any at all ever. Well at least not in how the rest of the malazan world percieve gods. basically snide and needy ascendants, and he's had enough of that business....No, im feeling more of a, well, look at the Avengers that came out this year...one scene in particular makes me think of karsa-ness and his take on godhood.
Loki: 'I am a god you dull creature, and I will not be...
HULK KICKS THE LIVING PISS OUT OF HIM AND WALKS OFF
Hulk: 'Puny God'
there we go, Karsa in his entirety

You should probably either remove or put that Avengers spoiler in a box. Not everyone has seen the film.

If it didn't include some kind of unnecessary spoiler, it wouldn't be a proper Vaddon Ra post.

Fat chance! Do you really think Gannoes and Tavore will let that happen?
The shapeshifting master of the deck will bless Karsa and then teleport the army of the unwitnessed against the witnessed attention whore "army".
Tavore will cut of his legs while Gannoes goes full shadowdog and bites the head off!!!
Then they kill Rel and Iron Bars!

2017 response to a 2012 response to a 2009 OP.This thread just broke the timespace continuum. Watch for Confederate Nazis riding cyborg dinosaurs in the streets next.
....but its an assumption that the first chunk of civilization that Karsa leads an army against is the ME. Back in HoC he even told the Malazans (Tavore) they were no longer his enemy. Geographically the Malazan occupation of Genabackis would seem to make this inevitable, and neither Tavore, nor Laseen are still in charge, so the statement may have expired.
Also curious whether Paran interferes, or if he doesn't, why not.
