By the way, in case anyone is curious...Illy gave me the google word I needed (yaoi...didn't know that one) and I ended up browsing fanfic, some of which was moderately interesting. But then I found some Goku-Vegeta erotica that is VERY well-written, and a huge stash of more by the same author I haven't gotten to yet. Like, wow. I'm really impressed. Not to mention highly aroused.

What's awesome about well-written Goku-Vegeta fanfic porn is that it's really just filling in details of bits in the DBZ plot that were strongly hinted at all the way through the series. You could say that the entire plot of the DBZ series centered around that sexual tension - Vegeta's obsession with Goku (passionate hatred that was always quite obviously on the brink of lust), and Goku's insistence on keeping Vegeta alive for some god knows reason (and the shame of that allowance being obviously the only thing keeping Vegeta's passion on the side of hate). Sometimes, the hints weren't even subtle, lol. The series (DBZ, not Dragonball) begins with the Saiyan saga, in which Vegeta is the final badass that Goku has to fight, and when it's all over, they're the only Saiyans left alive. The series (DBZ, not GT, which dropped the innuendo almost completely) ends with Vegeta hiding behind a tree, blushing cause Goku is naked on the other side of it (that's seriously the last scene in the series). In between, there's stuff like the crying scene as Vegeta is dying on Namek, and after when Goku buries him. And the scene in Hell where they fight Janemba, and Vegeta cries again, and after, when they fuse as Gogita, and the camera pans out to a view of the planet, showing their combined energy engulfing the planet. In the shape of a heart. Seriously. Their first fight was fun, but their second (and only other, not counting sparring) was little short of S&M porn. The series was drawn better at that point too, so they were both all sexy and gay with their ripped muscles and Vegeta's spandex. Just the way they said each other's names (in the Japanese and English versions, mind) was hot stuff.

Anyway, I used to watch DBZ back in the day with a bunch of guys (all straight guys)...we watched the whole series on tape cause Comedy Central was slow, and we switched to Japanese when we got ahead of the tape releases (a lot of the later stuff, I've never seen in the English versions). We always talked about Goku and Vegeta's gayness, but it got even more obvious - more obviously intended - when we switched to the Japanese version. The guys thought it was hilarious, and though I definitely wasn't missing the humor element, I thought it was good fantasy fodder too.

Oh, and one example of what makes this well-written fanfic: At one point, the writer draws a comparison (at a point when Goku has become Super Saiyan but Vegeta hasn't yet) between the gold and blue of Vegeta's armor - the Saiyan royal colors - and the gold and blue of Goku's SS hair and eyes. Good stuff. There are plenty of other similar examples of literary quality, and the writer has an intimate knowledge of the DBZ plot, and all the hints that were dropped in it, and uses it to his/her advantage. For instance, another blatantly obvious hint in the series was that Vegeta was sexually abused by Frieza when he was a kid (this is an element that was used by every single fanfic author I came across). And of course this has a great deal to do with why Vegeta is the way he is, and has a lot of implications in his gayness with Kakarott too. The good writer uses it to his advantage plotwise. Also, there are some good plot twists in general, of the writer's own creation, that are hard to find in erotica of any kind on the internets (it's generally VERY badly written).

I could write a nice entry for the U of Malaz on the implied gayness in DBZ, hence my shock when I had trouble finding Goku-Vegeta pr0n. And originally I had intended to find just some good pics to post on the MySpace pages of my old DBZ buddies for laughs, but finding high-quality erotica is a nice surprise.
