Have we regressed?!? I'm fairly certain we were better behaved when I joined.

Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Yeah, I joined 2 years ago, and I see no regression either.

No reason to worry. I think.

So last night I was walking downtown for some pizza at like 1am with some friends of mine,
and someone said, "I'm so hungry I could eat a whole pizza."
I said, "I bet I could eat 100 pizzas," and no one understood me. I was sad.

I'll be honest in saying this... the Book Discussions are a little more lenient than they used to be. I was very careful about what I posted in those forums when I first came here. ESPECIALLY, with topic creation. I made sure it was a topic that hadn't been discussed, or if it had been discussed, to include it in the section where I was going to update the topic and theory in as related to the mos recent book.
People used to come in and crackdown right away: "this is being discussed 'here, here, and here.'
With the forum switch, that might have changed some... I haven't added a topic in the book discussion since then, but it sure seems that a hell of a lot of new topics are being introduced daily. I could just be wrong.
I think the removal of rep as a balancing act (in whether or not to post), actually has played some role in this, and since rep isn't allowed right now there isn't really anything we can do about it.

You know, we mods are here for a reason. If you've any particular problems with a thread, PM one of us and explain why.

We can excercise that thing we never use... restraint... sometimes, you know. Generally I for one can't see anything hugely problematic with most of the threads, but I mean if there's a specific problem you feel we haven't seen.

In other words, Lisheos too worried about his reputation as the nice mod to do anything .
I dislike people being uncivil in the book areas.
Because thats for book discussion, not for "My opinions right and im going to swear and you until you accept it". Its not the discussion board .
So yeah, I edit stuff or delete stuff that I think shouldn't be there. If people want people to accept their opinion, present it in a well thought out way, not with abuse etc.

I'm still miffed that my testicle thread didn't survive you elitist bastards, and I were especially aggravated after I tried to talk about it in the discussion board and that also got shut down. Where of more than half a mind to go on a kiddyporn-trolling rampage after that, but I figured you weren't worth it. So no, we obviously haven't regressed enough.
