If you don't have anything suitable, I'd recommend this...

http://www.belarc.co...e_download.html

It's called Belarc Advisor, it's a free program you can download. It checks your drives, and gives you a very detailed list of all your computer specs, installed hardware, versions, types...everything. Quick and easy too.

So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

cheers traveller, thats an awesome app.

I've (apparently) got 2 gb of ram and 2ghz processor. Hopefully that will be sufficient

will have to investigatge if a "ATI Mobility Radeon X1300" is a powerful enough graphics thingy

Is the processor dual core? because if not, then that's not enough, needs 2.4Ghz I think.

You can run dxdiag to find your specs

2046MB RAM

and my radeon is approx total memeory of 128 mb :p

If you have dual core you should be fine. the 2.4 Ghz is only for single core. However, your video card is definitely not good enough.

From notebookcheck: ATI Mobility Radeon X1300 is one of the weakest graphic cards from ATI. It can hardly be used for current games.

yeah that seems weird as the specs want 128mb memory card. Maybe you have a pimped up one and you didn't realise?

Also, how slow is it on your comp?

I don't mind the slowness, makes for better tactics, more time to think.
But I mean, i also ran DoW on this laptop...

I'l be getting a new one when SCII finally comes out.

Everest Everest is also good for checking your specs, gives alot of detail.

I'm thinking i may need to upgrade my graphics card :p

lol
I heart my laptop, especially now that it's been upgraded from 512 MB to a glorious 1.5 Gigs of RAM

I'd much rather get a GFX upgrade than a new laptop, since they'll insist on sticking Vista into into it... and I want to stick with XP.

I've got a 2.60g processor, which is a few years old now. I upgraded to a whole gig of RAM when Medieval 2 came out, and also got a GeForce 6200 for cheap.

Empire is running ok so far, not on highest detail level, but looks good enough!

Only problem I have is the video - the intro and the in-game clips are so slow i just have to skip 'em.

I'm sure you can find a 250mb card that isn't that expensive. I might have to have alook, just so I can speed it up a bit...

has to be compatible
laptops have limitations--for my RAM, for example, I could only put in a DDR (nowadays everyone uses DDR II-type RAM), and the max I could upgrade by was 1 Gig.

i'd heve to look up the specs to see what's the best GFX my motherboard'd be compatible with.

my laptop's over 4 years old though, I got it before Uni, and even then it wasn't top of the line.

I have heard that SC II (assume it's starcraft) is really undemanding, as is usual with Blizzard games. They just are so popular because of their great gameplay, although saying that, SC did have a rather easy winning tactic.... Zerg rush!!! :p
