i think im leaning more toward that fact that the talon chief of staff just wanted to move about as much as possible and keep his head down, especially after laseen took over

I can't see there being two Amerons because it doesn't seem like a clever plot device, just an annyoing inconvenience.

It has been proven beyond all reasonable doubt that the most powerful force on Wu is a bunch of messed-up Malazans with Moranth munitions.

Well, there's two 'Pearl's, two 'Clip's, two 'Bell's...

There are are two characters called clip? And I wasn't even aware of a character called bell.

That said I'm still strongly of the opinion that ameron=amaron, just as I'm of the opinion that ardata=ardatha, they are minor spelling differences in words which would be pronounced essentially the same.

The discrepancies in ameron's position can be explained in my book by a talon keeping his head down whilst moving from post to post, and erikson and esselmonts lack of communication on some issues, understandably in a series this size.

Bell is a soldier in Sergeant Cord's squad, in the Ashok Regiment.

The "pairs of names" doesn't worry me, because those people possessing identical names never meet. Thusly, we never have to get irritated by it, minor though that might be.

the different spellings dont bother me. I know it is historical , but look how many ways Ghengis Khan is spelled in your local library...

What did bother me at first was Shimmer and Skinner.

(Just so you know)

Clip: a Tiste Andii and a Great Raven

Bell: Ashok soldier (died at Y'Ghatan) and a mercenary/thug hired by Ash (NoK; and now just a pile of intestines)

I'm so glad someone else noticed that. Iirc, Clip the raven was fried by Hairlock.

Also, Seguleh Third Mok and dead Malaz Island crime lord Mock. And Admiral Nok, just for good measure.

And don't even get me started on (Mallick) Rel, Rell and Rillish...

I also think Amaron is definitely Ameron, however his overall inclusion in this book was a bit of a letdown as he hardly did anything at all.

Which books mentions him as leader of the Talons? HoC? I remember him just as navy commander.

Btw isn't it strange how these people were so famous but nobody can recognize them and they even hardly recognize each other (especially when it comes to Temper and Ferrule). You'd think there'd be Dassem's portraits all over the empire yet nobody can place him when he appears. Thats just plain odd.

Oh sure... that makes sense. Or would, if I knew who in Hood's name "Ash" was and what his (or her) agenda was.

Skywalker - would like to point out that Mock and Nok both find mention in NoK. but curiously, there is no Hoc in HoC. Hopefully we'll meet Dod in DoD.
