I thought it was pretty awesome how ... oh man I forget which two characters... they step out of a building, and Karsa is just right there and beats them down with one swing of that big sword.
Just, wow, those were two tought guys and Karsa is such a ba.
The MBOTF scene that made you gasp, then pause the longest.

So every page in Book 1 of HoC appealed to you.
One big "wow" moment was the near-end of MoI; the big confrontation with the Pannion Seer, when you find out who he is from the prologue. And it seems so long ago, what with the length of the book.
Oh yes, I don't know if this was mentioned, but Rallick Nom's duel with councilman Orr.

In MoI, the scene with Rake cutting down the dozen witches that protected Anaster, then WJ coming in and killing the rest so that Dragnipur didn't eat all of their souls. And his realization of what Rake meant when he said mercy.

Two moments in MoI come to mind along with one from HoC
1. EVERYTHING KARSA!!!
2. When Tool arrives at the end coming for toc thinking to himself, toc the younger who had called him friend. I mean the guy as been basically friendless for 200,000 yrs.
3. The epilogue in MoI when duiker says "Very well, permit me, if you will, on this night. To break your hearts once more. This is the story of the Chain of Dogs. Of Coltaine of the Crow Clan" Just a supreme ending to the book in my opinion.

yeh that was a good ending.
A good one is the guy who protects tehol from getting killed. that watch man chalas sacrifices himself for tehol and we never really know any thing of there relationship.
Or when the grey swords knew they were gona die but still charged against 1000 kell hunters. if you countenece this there were 200 odd grey swords and 1 kell hunter killed 25 men and there expected to kill 4 each....

The Traveler coming to Cutter with a broken sword and a pile of dead Edur behind him... without a strach...!
That scene is just a KILLER- really made gasp and take a looong pause...
BTW in that moment there was no one that could convince me that The Traveller isn't Dassem Ultor!

I'm in the middle of HoC right now, so I can't speak to its end, or any books past it.
1. Rallick Nom's duel at the end of GotM, including Anomander Rake's comment about being his second. Still resonates with me as a great scene. I stopped and thought, "Yeah...I guess that's how it really would go down, despite how easy it seemed." (I have to say it's followed closely by Rake showing up to the ball as himself. Classic! )
2. Learning about Icarium's history in DHG.
3. QB dropping Kallor through a hole in MoI: "Did he really just do that?!", followed by Rake's and Brood's conversation about why they do what they do.
4. HoC so far: When Onrack points out that the two hound statues are...alive. I sat there for several minutes going, "Whoa...what the...?" Closely tied with the bone omen turning of the 14th army.

I specially liked the line in the beginning, that went something like: 'They weren't afraid to die, but to kill' lol
- Talk with Empress.
- Finding out that Ex Emperor is Shadowthrone

- Death of bridgeburners, especially Hedge
HoC:
- When Karsa said no to his gods and Chained one. And when he killed that high mage.

Prtty much every other page has me stopping for a few minutes...mainly to keep it all in my head (soon have to make notes) but;
GOTM: Cowl stopping Serrat going after Crokus made my spine tingle
DG: Most of the CoD and poor old Squint. I also had to pause thinking about Kalam hairing off through the countryside oblivious to the deaths behind him...Sha'ik, the people ta Ladro keep etc...I know it wasn't him, but would you want to be in his shadow...no pun intended.
MoI: Well, as this is my absolute favourite book...?? If I must choose then Duiker in the inn. As has been said the best ending ever.
