Its in DG - Stormy, Gesler, Truth and Kulp have rescued Heboric, Felisin and Baudin. They are on the Silandah and have gone into either the Nascent or Kuruld Thryllan (can't remember which...) and the imass arrive, because of the Rent. The Imass goes to heal the rent and gives his sword to Stormy. You were correct!
If I had my books here, I would get the page for you and everything. :D
And I agree it is a pretty powerful part.

One of the bits that chokes me up every time is Coltaines death in DG... :D
A Haunting Poem

You Scream
We all Scream

Hi everyone. This is my first forum. I'm dying to discuss these books I couldn't wait any longer for my girlfreind and my 2 best friends to finish MoI and HoC. Here's my list.

GoTM:
  • When LORN gets her ass handed to her by BLUES of the Crimson Guard.
  • When TATTERSAIL (during her confrontation with BELLURDEN) looks at the sack containing NIGHTCHILL’S slow-rotting remains and you realize what she’s about to do.
  • When they (Krupp and K'Rul I think) find her (TATTERSAIL) wondering the desert after shifting into NIGHTCHILL's remains.
  • When RAKE shows up and saves PARAN by killing the two hounds and then proceeds to make a direct threat to SHADOWTHRONE and COTILLIAN; and when they backed off without a second thought.
  • When PARAN enters the sword and sets the two hounds free.
  • When PARAN briefly meets SILVERFOX and realizes who she is.

DG
  • SORMO ENATH'S death. The crucifiction of the soldiers at Aren. When the two creature(?) appeared to take DUIKERS head. COLTAIN's fall.
  • When ICARIUM started getting really pissed during the whole D'Ivers and Soultaken scene inside the gate.
  • After KALAM eliminates every hand of Claw that is sent agains him, and you realize what a badass he is.
  • When HEBORIC used his etheral hands to pull down his own god.
  • When the Original Sha'Ike was assassinated by that Red Blade hotty (can't believe i forgot her name).

MoI
  • Realizing how powerful Kallor is (it took 3 elder gods to take him down). 3 Gods that he ended up successfully cursing!
  • The whole passege where the BRIDGEBURNERS stormed the keep of the PANION SEER and the end result of that battle.
  • When TOOL got f'd up by MOK the Segule.
  • When TOC YOUNGER was being tortured to deformity by the MATRON.
  • When the BRIDGEBURNERS looked under the huge wooden table to discover the card in the Deck of Dragons; and when the image on the card was revealed to be none other than PARAN.
  • When GRUNTLE started to change and began the slaughter of every Seerdomin he could find.
  • When PARAN and the BRIDGEBURNERS came upon the keep that GRUNTLE and his wreckin' crew used as their battle ground. The building was litterally being held up buy bodies. The way the BRIDGEBURNERS reacted to it was very vivid. And when they met GRUNTL and the rest of TREACH's group, their caution was palpable.
  • THE GREY SWORDS!!: BRUKHALIAN's death; and the fact that HOOD himself came to collect his soul. ITKOVIANS death was one of the most beautiful pieces of writing that I have ever come across in any epic fantasy novel.
  • The scene where WHISKYJACK starts killing the panion witches, and Rake's acknowledgment of what Whisky did. (That passege was very touching).
  • The fight between KALLOR and the two female soldiers that were protecting SILVERFOX. Seeing it from KORLAT's perspective was a great choice by SE. The flow of it was poetic (WOW!). All that Coupled with TAYSCHRENN's unleashing of power really surprised me. Especially when KORLAT took stock of him and thought to herself; "This was the power that my lord (RAKE) faced" (not sure if the qoute is accurate).
  • Realizing that BAUDIN was the one ascended to KNIGHT OF DEATH.
  • QUICK BEN handing BAUCHELAIN and KORBAL BROACH their collective asses.

I have to stop here. There's just so much more I could write about MoI. It's one of the best books I have ever read. I just don't have the energy to comment on HoC.

I am now officially in-love with Itkovian Oranthantal... You may call me gay...
He is the best character I've ever read about...
Are we going to see more of him?
And one by one the gardens died

I concure, and feel the same about ITKOVIAN, but I think bringing his character back would totally deminish the strength of his creation/demise in the first place. It's my opinion that his death scene should have occured later in the series. The scene with his death culminating with the freeing of the gathered T'lan Imass souls totally overshadowd the death of WHISKYJACK.

Why? it took place because that's what needed to happen at that point, particularly to the Imass.
I love it that SE can finish off great characters because it suits him to... and if they die in such ways... I'll sit and cry, but man.. it's great to read. :D

To clearify, I don't think it was a bad decision on the part of SE, it's just that a part of me speculates what it would have been like if ITKOVIAN had a commanding role in the coming conflicts of later books. Based on the fact that other major characters in the book connected with ITKOVIAN almost instantly, I can’t help but surmise that he would have made a great compliment to DUJEK'S host. For instance, based on his fast friendship with WHISKY, I thought they were setting him up to befriend DUJEK for that very reason. Also, the sap in me would have liked it if ALL the T'lan Imass were obsolved from the ritual (eh hem) en-mass in a later book.

Erikson’s strongest gift is the speed at which he establishes strong characterization and logical plot lines. I mean there are characters and groups introduced in GoTM and MoI alone that could command their own multi-book series.

The part that made me pause and put the book down was chapter 20 from the MoI book. In this chapter Toc the Younger is being allowed a breath of fresh air and is accompanied by an unknown Seerdomin.

The Seerdomin’s revelation about his past, his father coming back from a fishing expedition, and subsequently leaving, and his talks about the former glory of the village (cat people), made me put the book down and just stare into nothingness for a little while.

Afterwards, the Seerdomin lock Toc up, but out of reach of the K’chain Matron… Absolutely astonishing writing. :)

Otherwise, I am still moved by the Icarium and Mappo relationship (DG), Itkovian’s absorbing of all of the T’lan Imass memories and his passing away (MoI), and the current resolution between Cutter and Apsalar...

Yeah, I like that Seerdomin. I'm glad that it's not directly stated that he dies, and could be the one who surrendered for the Domin after Rake 'brought the house down' with his pithy remarks, irrascible wit and squillion ton floating mountain.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

I understood that brukhalian was walking into the trap because without his death their was no betrayal to punish. It made no sense to me but thats what I read.

I believe that one of the rath priests who betrayed them (rath fener more than likely) invoked the reave so that they would come to the protection of him but he sets up an ambush. Brukhalain can either stay where he is lose all honour and no one would be unable to punish rath fener because no crime would have been committed, if he goes he dies with honour and Itkovian is able to chop off some hands :)

I also was quite surprised that Trotts died. I just thought hed survive being big and Barghast. It was obvios Mallet was gonna survive being the only high denul user. This also leaves plot lines open for Mallet to turn up in and save the day. I was also quite shocked or to be honest totally gobsmacked when corporal aimless dies( i think its aimless or buckland). When Picker talks to envy and says

Envy ''will this take long''

Buckland falls with a piece of his head sheared off.

Picker '' no it wont.''

Just the way a small character could go down so easily made me realise how few and far beetween the BB were and how crippled they had been by Pale.

Yep, I felt really sad for Felisin (really sad being an understatement), to experience all the trauma she lived through. Been used, having a sister betray you from her point of view, parents being killed by a kin and then finally to be brutally killed by her sister. Her defencelessness after being released and then having a sword thrust through her and then Tavore coldly planting a foot onto her to drag the sword out and then never to have seen her brother. I cannot imagine the emotional pain nevermind the physical pain of it, the fear leading up to final events and then Felisin finally saying, "...why you did not love me, when I loved you". Not to mention being witnessed by her followers and infront of her birth nation's army.

I was also surprised when Pearl / Lostara did not allow her body to be shown to the Adjunct, I would have given my legs and arms to see her reaction.

It really did make me feel depressed after I read that she died, and hope that Erikson allows a resurrection or meeting of Baudlin and Felisin at the gates of Hood.

(Sorry if this is not your opinion but to me it was heart-jerkingly sad)

When Tool rescues Toc at the end of MOI and says he's his kin and calls him brother.

When Raest first gets free and senses Burn sleeping. "Shall I wake you?" "Not yet. But I shall make you bleed" His power when he wounds her.

The end of HOC was really intense, had to take a breath after every section it seemed. Karsa.
