Have to add: L'oric getting pwned by the Talons, and then comes the big Daddy Osric and takes him in his arms... "Is there lpace in my old bed?" I felt like crying... brilliant:clap: :(
And one by one the gardens died

Hey ppl. Alright, most of the stuff I liked about the books up to HoC (just started MT) were already mentioned by other people, so I'll say the stuff that really stuck out in my mind's eye...

GotM

- Bridgeburners supposedly being betrayed and killed by Tayshrenn
- Rake, QuickBen, Kalam, Sorry, Dujek, WhiskeyJack, Paran, Tattersail
- Rake vs Demon, that was a wicked fight scene.
- Raest vs the Eleint, that was one amazing battle.
- Rallick killing Turban Orr, ahhh..., what a befitting death to that arrogant b----rd... for a dude who likes watching a good knife-in-the-throat scene, this ranked faaar up there.

DG

- Coltaine, Duiker, Iskaral Pust! (and his wifey), Ghost Hands (great stuff), Baudin, Felisin
- Fener being pulled from his realm!?
- Fid blowing up the Dhenrabi Soletaken lol....
- Those flies attacking and biting Felisin...eww...
- Icarium and Mappo and everything they've been through, memories, purpose of Mappo's companionship...etc
- Kulp's statement after escaping a mage questing for them, something to the effect of... "Does anyone need to wash their breeches?" LoL
- The entire Chain of Dogs..., a testament to where sheer willpower can get you.
- Finding out Shadowthrone and Cotillion are actually Kellanved and Dancer

MoI (my FAVOURITE so far)

- That Kallor would destroy his entire empire and kill everyone in it turning it into a deserted and wretched place full of the ashes of the past.
- The Grey Swords
- Brukhalian! Itkovian! the High Denul guy...forget his name and title...
- The battle for the Capustan, amazing.
- Gruntle and his transformation and all of his fights
- The SEGULEH! They were simply amazing. No fear, never faltering, I mean sending a 3 man army against the Pannion Domin, how badass is that!?
- The Seguleh picking a fight with Tool (First Sword of the T'lan Imass)
- That Seguleh killing a seerdomin, does not even give away one inch of ground
- The 3 Seguleh vs a K'ell Hunter (keeping in mind that a K'ell Hunter can easily and speedily kill a score of armed horsemen). That was on satisfying scene. How I hope SE writes more on the Seguleh in further books, an entire Island of Swordsmen trained from infancy....(for a Kendoka...the character of the Seguleh...just amazing...)
- Envy's relationship with Toc the Younger, thought it was pretty funny.
- The last battle
- Whiskeyjack's death, how I hope Kallor does get Dragnipurake

This is getting long...

HoC

- EVERYTHIGN Karsa, like, everything.
- When Karsa kills Thord's killer...cuts him down the middle in half
- Bidithal's death at the hand's of Karsa, well deserved, though I was expecting Heboric to rip off his b***s or do something funky on him with his hands
- The way Karsa punishes his former captor, and his eventual killing of his former captor, well met.
- Heboric being Trake's new destraint (I think its destraint)
- Admiral Nok's handling of the snakes, talk about cold iron eh...
- Everything Fiddler
- The fate of the Captain of Fid's squad or company...etc (he gets blown up, pretty funny the way they find out...)
- That L'oric's really Osric's son!
- Felisin's story saddens me...
- I honestly didnt think Karsa would actually challenge the Deragoth...

I do apologize for the length..., though I just wanna say one more time, the Seguleh rocked. They didnt rock long enough though, I hope they decide to spill some more blood in later books. I mean Rake couldnt even last three hours on their island! Anyways...cant wait to start MT!

i agree with every moment here so i thought id bring up something new

one of my fav chars was Kruppe. possibly the funniest guy ive read in a fantasy series, my fav would be when he peeved off Caladan Brood in MOI. but even better when Murillio called Kruppe fat and he stormed off.

lol, to my friends when they are stalling and i offer my advice and they tell me to shut it i quote ole Kruppe "very well, continue hesistating"

AHAHAHAH, to Kruppe i salute you

Honestly, it's been quite awhile since I've read GotM and DG... so I can't remember TOO many of the good parts... mostly the main stuff everyone else has mentioned.

MoI, however...
-Bridgeburner's deaths... all of them.
-Paran's new position. :>
-And especially the part just after Whiskeyjack is basically killed because of his leg breaking, when Korlat is asked about it she says that his leg broke AFTER he was killed. I had to ponder on why she would do that for a long time. It's so heartbreaking!

And, as I'm in the middle of HoC, but almost done... 250 pages to go...
-Karsa being offered the Knight position.
-Karsa denying the Knight position and cutting the renegade T'lan Imass in half.
-Bidithal's absolutely skin-crawling acts inflicted on Felisin the Younger. That made me hurt in places just thinking about it.
-Heboric's switch over to Treach's Destriant.
-The realization that the Hounds of Shadow's original masters were Edur... explaining the statues Onrack and Trull ran across, and why they were alive.
-The first appearance of Tiste Liosan! I'm excited to see where SE will take these guys.
Edit:
-Felisin's death and Tavore's ignorance of her action. T_T
-The news of the Bridgeburner's ascension. *squeals*

Anomander Rake vs. Eleint in GotM.
I've read only as far as MT, but that was the only time AR admitted he was weak: (to Crokus)"go save Baruk, I cannot defend him now", or something like that.
At first, I thought AR was no big deal, and it's no surprise some demon got him. Now that I know he is a big deal, I wonder what would've happened if nobody stopped the demon, or if anyone would be capable to do so.
Which brings another question to my mind: Just how was Tayschrenn able to bind such a thing?
Kif: Sir, remember your course correction?
Captain Zapp: No.
Kif: Well, it's proving somewhat more suicidal than we'd initially hoped.

It's a consistent theme of demon summoning and chaining in most books I've read that the summoner can control beasts much more powerful than he is himself. If you think about it, this is why demonic summoning is a useful pastime.

When WJ was killed I was in shock....I kept waiting for someone to bring him back. then it didn't happen.....I'm still a little bitter. I do feel that having main char. die realy keeps you on edge. You are not able to read the books with the knowledge that so or so is going to survive the S@#T they are in. It is one of the reasons I am so in awe of SE.

If I was the demon in question, I'd be really pissed. Imagine this: you are a powerful creature, a master in your habitat, and your life is just fine - enjoying the sun, the fresh air, and molesting random lesser creatures that cross your way. Suddenly, you find yourself bound by an old cock, whom you could easily eat for dinner, and you have no choice but to obey unquestioningly. Shite.
Maybe it's all about outsmarting the creature.

Or perhaps offering them something they want in return?

I think that in light of how detached and seemingly emotionless the Imass are, the admission of the friendship, nay, brotherhood of Toc the Younger and of Tool is amazing. It nearly broke my heart reading of Tool picking up his broken body and calling him brother to his face, and the frustration when the flesh and blood Tool recognizes Toc and yet keeps silent, leaving Toc to wonder at his existence.

Another scene that was heartbreaking, was the funeral of Itkovian, from the silent masses of Imass taking all day to lay their trinkets on his grave, to the emotionally broken soldier who returned to his grave to offer Itkovian his helm back. Such scenes are a eerie in their ability to capture emotion.

Well He was always Able to speak with Bairoth Gild and Delum Thord because their Spirits were with him. once he got his new oversize sword, Bairoth Gild and Delum Thord were "sucked" into the sword and from that point Karsa no longer was able to speak to them.

And to your Forum name Where is Dassem Ultor?, he Ends up to be actually grub. Isn't that wierd?

Btw, new of the Bridgeburnner's Acension to me was like "Oh . . . Dear. . . God. They're gona wreak with the gods soo bad. Its going to mess up the Equilibrium."

And when Fid had a short visit from Hedge i was like O.O

Anyways Finished HoC and Noticed that books 2-4 are in the same time period. nice.

No it says Grub becomes the First Sword, he takes on the title of the First Sword. Doesn't make him Dassem, who was also the holder of this title.

Too many to name, most referenced above.

One aspect that has caused me to put the books down a number of times and ponder wtf is going on is how SE hasn't quite put his timeline in order, who was present at how many chainings (it seems one wasn't so long ago) and so on. Kallors' comment in MoI to the effect of calling the T'lan Imass "children" had me scratching my head - since Kallors' origin (and cursing) was circa 100,000+ years ago and the Ritual of Tellann was 300,000+ years ago.

But yeah, the biggest for me to this point were Whiskeyjacks' and Felisins' deaths - so quick and cold, with no dramatic flourish. Just like real life. Which is where I started to get the feeling it WAS written more as a sort of "history" than your usual empowerment fantasy.

Cheers,

La Sombra, empowerment fantasy for women :)
