So after watching this, I have come to the conclusion that Matt is either an exceptional actor who can channel the doctor even when he's not filming, or many of Matt's traits were inserted into the new doctor.
And though he may not be the typical 'pretty boy', once you see him in action you can't help feel he's just so.....cute!!!!

Yeah, pretty much

I ALWAYS hate a new Doctor at first. I hated Eccleston, I hated Tennant, and I hated Matt Smith. But the writing and casting is such that they've always won me over in 2-3 eps.

Assuming the show goes beyond Matt Smith, I'll hate his replacement for a few episodes too.

Indeed. I once wrote a long blog post about what I termed "Regeneration Jitters" and it was something I have gone through since Tom Baker (4th Doctor) became Peter Davison (5th Doctor)...you always hate the new Doctor initially...until he impresses you with new traits and endears himself to you. For me, Smith did that within like 3 episodes of the 5th Series.

Tonight's episode, written by Neil Gaiman!!!! was brilliant! Loved it. The first time we've really seen Matt Smith get really emotional, TARDIS corridors? Yes please! Michael Sheen as House's voice? Awesome!

The whole thing was a nicely assembled love letter to the show.
