I'm not the only one who really doesn't like the character of Rose, and felt the overwhelming focus on her detracted from the rest of the series? Cause she's one of the main reasons I stopped keeping up with the newer series. Yes yes, Mr. Davies, we know you want to roger Mrs Piper but stop writing her in every single episode and having her shadow hang over the episodes she's not even in already! It's more annoying than Milla Jovovich having superpowers that defy explanation in every movie directed by her husband regardless of backstory or plausibility!

Er....Russel T. Davies is gay. I doubt he wants to do anything with her in that regard. Now Captain Jack....I bet he wanted a piece of that.

Eh, maybe he'd make her wear a moustache or something. AND CHAVS ARE NOT GOOD, MCLONGHORNIN
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

I didn't when I first saw it, but after rewatching JOURNEY'S END many times it makes sense....otherwise Rose is left in an alternate universe WITHOUT the man she loves. That's fairly bleak. JOURNEY'S END gives her back what she is missing. Sure, it takes away the overall emotional impact of DOOMSDAY, but it rounds her out quite nicely as a character.

I thought it was such a cheap copout. She's not with the man she loves, she's with a copy. And it's not even as if he's an identical person, it's stated outright that he's got a bit of Donna in him.

Also how come it's okay for him to be half-human, half-timelord but not Donna?
I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.

The Doctor with Rose at the end isn't a time-lord. He's mostly human, one heart. He'll live a normal life and die. His mind won't burn about the things he knows because he's made FROM a timelord hand, regrown, so technically he came as a result of a timelord, whereas Donna took the knowledge of a timelord into a human mind and her mind could not deal with it.

How is it cheap cop out to bring her story back round in a cycle to where it began? She's with as close a version to the Doctor that she loved as she will get and she accepts this because he is basically the Doctor before he met her, she has to temper him again is all. He will, for all intents and purposes be the man she loves.

If it were me and I couldn't be with my girlfriend and someone offered me a clone of her that was essentially the same person, I'd accept without a thought if I couldn't have the original for whatever reason.

Ep 2 was goodness. Moffat seems to have planted a lot of season-arc seeds here.

What was the deal with that woman's face in the door talking about Amy dreaming?

Is that little girl a Time Lord?

What does it mean that the TARDIS couldn't conclude whether Amy is pregnant or not?

Looks to be a great season in the making.
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

Agreed. I am excited by a bunch of the plot threads here, including that we have yet to prevent future Doctor's death...

The woman in the door portal/window thingy with the metal embedded eyepatch was probably the awesomest herring in the episode that looks like it will be a season running mystery.

Hmm, is the little girl a time-lord? Is she perhaps just some offshoot of Amy being in the TARDIS River doesn't react to her at all...and she even tries to shoot the spacesuited person in the first ep.

It was all very interesting. I'd actually like to know where the Stormcage prison is and why that is where River is kept.

My theory is that The Silence is a Time Lord - Time Lady, I'd hazard (the name is the giveaway, I'd say; The Doctor, The Master, The Rani and... The Silence). And she's the little girl who regenerated... The Silents are her forerunners/acolytes. I'm guessing they're using Amy's Schrodinger pregnancy to bring The Silence into the current universe.. I'm also guessing that the proto-TARDIS we saw again is hers... The thing that is really throwing me is who the hell is the woman who looked through the door? Is she a previous regeneration of The Silence?

And we still have questions about River; who was the man she killed? (I'm thinking it's not The Doctor now; is it Rory?) There's also promise she told The Doctor that she made/will make to him; was that to stay in prison?

If an opinion contrary to your own makes you angry, that is a sign that you are subconsciously aware of having no good reason for thinking as you do. If some one maintains that two and two are five, or that Iceland is on the equator, you feel pity rather than anger, unless you know so little of arithmetic or geography that his opinion shakes your own contrary conviction. … So whenever you find yourself getting angry about a difference of opinion, be on your guard; you will probably find, on examination, that your belief is going beyond what the evidence warrants. of course, the regenerating girl could be the doctor's daughter/clone from a couple series back.....

I think Moffat has gone on the record as saying we won't see her again.

The big question remaining is who the hell was in the spacesuit and killed The Doctor?

I actually REALLY like the idea that The Silence are responsible for a new time lord (little girl) and that whoever she is needs protecting...and then you have to add this fact. The Proto-TARDIS we see is the one from the Lodger (or identical TO that one), which makes us have to assume that the Silence were in that episode and their device of us forgetting them is why no one in that episode remembers them...well we all know that James Corden (from The Lodger) is reappearing this series and that his reappearance includes the return of Cybermats and Cybermen, so how does that then tie into the proto-TARDIS (which I assume is the reason the Doctor goes to find him) and The Silence?

Are The Silence the big bad? Is it River? Is it little girl time-lord? Is the little girl Gallifreyan like Rani or The Master? Has she looked into the untempered schism? Or is she something else that simply has the power of regeneration?

Remember we still don't know who the female time lord who kept appearing to Wilf in Tennant's swan song THE END Of TIME was....even when asked the tenth Doctor never answered.

I'm rather excited by these mysteries. Can't wait to see where Moffat takes us this year!

EDIT: Whoah, and here is some evidence that The Silence were in the TARDIS in the series 5 episode THE LODGER!! Amy sees them and then forgets them and we had no idea what it was....Whoa...Moffat melts my brain!

Oh my god, I thought that was weird of Amy, but I didn't know what to think of it.

Yeah, and the funny thing is that The "Silence will fall" line has been in the show since Series 5 opener The Eleventh Hour, the Vampires of Venice creatures say they were chased off their planet by The Silence. It's even possible that the Weeping Angels are running from them when the Doctor mentions "what would make them run like this" in FLESH AND STONE.

So Moffat has been teasing us with his big bad for more than one season. His clever writing never fails to impress me. It's no wonder I have been watching his TV shows since PRESS GANG back in the 90's.

You're two episodes in :p. Prime, the channel that broadcasts doctor who here, still hasn't given a start date. Screw them though, they did the same thing with season 5 and every special. I'll probably just download it like I did with the 2010 Christmas special. You know, so I could watch it around Christmas, instead of in February.

Has anyone watched Doctor Who: the 11th regeneration? It's a curious fan made doctor who series. On youtube it's simply called Doctor Who, which is more than a little confusing and cynical me says this was done to get more hits. I came across it whilst looking up the actual series. I watched a few minutes out of interest and don't intend to watch any more, but that it exists at all intrigued me. On the one hand it's odd that it's being made now, when it's not like the world is facing a doctor who drought that it can plug in it's own minor way. But then I guess it could be symptomatic of the doctor who fever gripping Britain. Probably what it comes down to is that the makers really really really really love doctor who. Might be some wish fulfillment going on too. But as long as they're having fun, meh, a little more doctor who won't hurt the world. I just wish they would change the youtube listing, calling it Doctor Who is damn annoying.

I thought that they were hinting that the little girl was Amys daughter. And, that all the time travel during pregnancy had affected her. Back in an early series, Rose just had to look into the timeline thing in the tardis, to absorb a load of power; she then killed the daleks using that golden light that they use for the regeneration.
Maybe developing and growing up whilst travelling through time will create a new timelord?

Amy asks the Dr about the effect it would have, which is why she told him she was pregnant in the first place. Although that pregnancy seems to be in a parallel/different timeline - the scan was flicking between positive and negative wasn't it?
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Episode 2 was much awesomeness!

And the guy who played Canten, I forget his name, is fast becoming a favourite actor of mine. He's awesome!
