dats bcos tehy wer 2 slo fer him to b bovred wit!!1 lol karsa eats dasesm 4 brekfst!!1

I would provide my own translations, but quite frankly Grief's are better...

Translation:

Karsa found the fight uninteresting, so saw no reason to follow it. Karsa is also a cannibal, which I find amusing.

Alas, I fear I must now withdraw to the fanboys last resort. A statement so terrifying that to even utter it causes ones ears to melt. A statement so dire that it causes small birds to rise shrieking into the skies. A statement... Er, well you get the point.

Ahem.

lol!!1 ur mum got pwned!!1

Translation:

I hate Karsa and he would get chopped into small pieces by most swordsmen of the series, on account of his uselessness and lack of skill.

:p

hi there! first post! :p
out of all of them i think Icarium would win, partially cause hes my favourite character.....but it did say he could destroy an Azath (among other things) if hes mad =D
Lives and loves, the gamut of existence was marked by such things. A breaking of paths, the ragged, uneven ever-forward stumble. Blood dried, eventually. Turned to dust. The corpses of kings were laid down and sealed in darkness and set away, to be forgotten. Graves were dug for fallen soldiers, vast pits like mouths in the earth, opened in hunger, and all the bodies were tumbled down, each exhaling a last gasp of lime dust. Survivors grieved, for a time, and looked upon empty rooms and empty beds, the scattering of possessions no-one possessed any longer, and wondered what was to come, what would be written anew on the wiped-clean slate. Wondering, how can I go on?

Benji, I completely agree :p.

Estrayk, welcome to the forum.
Icarium is hard to judge on account of things like his passive magic adding a lot to his power.
It is also mentioned that he injures, rather than kills, the azath, though it is feared that he could possibly kill the deadhouse, in deadhouse gates, that azath was already severely weakened.
He is not the only one to manage such feats, such as in the Return of the Crimson Guard Prologue(spoilered in case you haven't read, if you've not, be warned that these forums are generally open to spoilers of every book):

He damaged an Azath. Anyways, as this thread has made relevant the fact that the Azath doesn't have a sword to hit back with.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

I can't believe you mis-translated my post :p

You shall rue this day! I shall return with more non-sensical arguments to help me defend swordsmen who I am unaffiliated with!

yea he must have, being the guardian of the Azath and all, i feel kind of sad for him though, Icarium having forgotten about him due to being an amnesiac :p

Bry's is definitly impressive but the way he fought is not unique.

Through out the books, I kind of got the impression that Seguleh almost have the same style of fightinh displayed by Bry's.

The fight in ROTCG where Iron Bars fights a Seguleh is almost similar in description to what Bry's did to Rhulad. And that Seguleh was like 200th rank or something to that effect.

And no...Mok is not as skilled as the 1st. 1st definitly feels Mok can match him some day but I doubt right now he is as good. Brood in his talk with Kallor brings up the 1st on equal terms with Rake and Dassem. Thats just scary considering 1st is the only mortal among the three.

We have no evidence suggesting the First being mortal. :p In fact, I'd bet he's an ascendant.
He has the feel of being long-lived.

Not sure 1st is ascendant.

Remember that Brood does not mention 1st by name but just the title. Its the title thats meant to be scary not the pereson behind it.

It means to be 1st you have to be so good as to be talked in the same breadth as Dassem, Rake and Brood.

Not necessarily. That's not a very good argument. :p The First is obviously old, the conversation between K'rul and Envy in MoI suggests he's been around since the Second's disappearance many centuries ago, at least.

It's only suggested, not actually said. But aye. Also, by the sounds of it, he's probably older than Mok, hence his sending away of him. All in all, the First is an enigma, and something to do with the Tyrant and the Torrud Cabal. As Baruk, leader of the Cabal is ascendant, I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if the first was too.

Well ascendancy doesn't necessarily mean the ascendant is a magic user. Dassem has ascended but we've not seen him use magic as far as I remember. The BBs have ascended and most of them were not mages either.

"There are many paths to Ascendancy"- Baruk, GotM, to Crone.
Not every mage is an ascendant, and not every ascendant is a mage. It all boils down to personal power. Coltaine was possibly an ascendant, or at least on his way to becoming one. Stormy is an ascendant too. :p
