Slicing tendons with a sword without opening blood vessels?
Are you crazy????

"The list of things some of other swordsmen have managed that Brys couldn't is far longer than the list of things that Brys could do that they couldn't."

Apart from duelling other swordmasters there is nothing that Brys could not do.Nothing you can prove anyway
You cant even prove that Rake or Dassem can do what Brys did.
You just speculate
I dont say that Brys can take them out but considering what he did a simple task is completely irrational
Only Brys and Mok have shown that kind of skill among mortals

Can you see him defeating Draconus?
Or Icarium fearing him?

He didn't do it without opening blood vessels.
He did it without opening major arteries that would make him bleed to death. Like the wrists or the left armpit.

without opening major blood vessels at that speed, yes.Using a freaking LONGSWORD for f*cks sake!

And no I dont see Draconus fearing a mortal cause he can blast him with magic
But if Draconus crossed swords with him??
Well I think Brys would chop him to pieces
You dont even know how Brys would fare against mortal swordsmen.Because he had two fights against supernatural beings. And he wiped the floor with them

Brys' fight was visible. The moves could be seen.
Rake and Dassem, no-one could even follow what was happening.

I don't think Brys could chop a castle gates lock in two :p

I also don't think he would survive attacking small armies of warriors like we've seen Dassem and Karsa do without getting fucked up.

And just to point it out, that last example is skill and speed, no supernatural abilities included there.

because they were not aiming at tendons!
If Brys could aim at tendons in speed unimaginable for the eye then he would chop both Dassem and Rake to pieces at the same time.Stop comparing different things

Well Aptorian if Mok can survive against a small army, Brys can do it also
Please remember that none of them has super powers

Well dassem aims for the throat, heart etc at speeds unimaginable, not so difficult.
And Rake aims for a thin piece of metal that is moving faster than people can keep track of, and blocks it every time.

Well when we see Brys aiming for the heart and throat we will be able to judge him wont we?
If you compare vital organs to tendons then we cannot discuss
Trull held against an enraged Icarium!
I really think that an ascended Brys can kick Icarium's ass
SE may prove any of us wrong

Beleg has an unskakeable belief in brys it seems. So you can discus who is the better swordsman until ragnarok comes to no avail. Which is why these threads kind of suck.

Ok, look, fantasy books, gents, anything can happen. :p Cool down, Brys cannot be compared to Rake or Dassem, it's a fact. He probably is the best mortal swordsman, but not the very best, not by a long shot.
Anyway, let's not let this get out of hand, I don't want to have to close the thread, so take a few deep breaths and relax. :p

What are you on about?

Brys didn't perform his little feat in a fight. He did it on a guy who was defenseless. And he didn't do it at some kind of miraculous speed. He actually took his time about it.

I keep saying this and nobody seems to care, what Brys did to Rhulad doesn't translate into actual fighting skill. It doesn't matter if you're just aiming for the thigh or a certain area of the thigh, if your opponent is able to block your shots.

Besides this, Erikson stating it in the book or not, Brys was lucky to not hit any major arteries, that part wasn't skill. You may deduce the probability of the placement of certain veins and tendons but each human body is different and this was even edur physique.

EDIT: Mok was all cut up in the end of MoI and he had the assistance of his buddies, a T'lan Imass, an ascendant powerhouse and two monster dogs. I wasn't discussion Mok, I was saying that I thought Brys wouldn't be so lucky against a small army as Karsa and Dassem was.

EDIT2: Just for the record I also recon Mok is better than Brys. SImply because we've only seen Brys fight the sea guardian and Rhulad.

Yes I do believe that Brys is one of the best we ve seen so far
It seems there are many people who think that what Brys did was not impressive. They think that it is not a feat able to earn him a place among the best....I disagree

Aptorian what are you talking about?
Trull and Fear where shaken by Brys's speed.
Fear, being a skilled swordsman himself was able to conclude that he had no chance against Brys

Where does trull holding against Icarium, for a short period of time, come into it.
He is a spear person.
Not massively adept with a sword, so why would he know how difficult it is to do?

The only thing Brys did in the fight was the quote I posted earlier, so I have to agree with Apt here. The tendons thing was almost an afterthought, Rhulad was already crippled.

Oh, he's certainly good.
But I wouldn't put him up with the top. Not with Rake, Dassem, Icarium(though im undecided about him)Tool(who, imo, gets under-rated), and possibly Graymane.

Trull and Fear are equal,at least thats what they believe, right?Trull has done some impressive things with his spear. You asked me if I think that Brys can take out Icarium.Well if a mortal Trull can hold him for a while then imho an ascended Brys can beat him(IMHO)

Sorry, but Icarium cannot be beaten by an ascendant Brys, and that's pretty much fact. If any swordsman could have beaten Iccy, they would have done so long ago. He's been wandering for a long long time, more than enough time to meet some amazing ascendant swordsmen.
If they tried, well, we haven't heard about em, yet we've heard about Iccy. :p

Actually thats not true.

Paraphrased:
"I last met Icarium around 800 years ago"

Anomander Rake, Gotm. I got the impression they'd met before, and were friends of a sort.

I get the opinion a lot of them don't wish to kill him, cause while he may be hard to kill with a sword, if the EGs got there act together, like they have in the past, he'd be pretty messed up with magic. Or even if someone like Rake, Gothos, Olar Ethil etc, went alone, could probably deal with him.
