Drop Dead Diva?

A beautiful but ditzy young woman dies in a car accident, but is resurrected after she presses the return key on heaven's computer. Problem is, she's not returned to her own body, but that of another recently deceased young woman. She inherits none of her new body's memories, but all of it's genius intellect and amazing lawyering skills. She's also still in love with her boyfriend, who conveniently works with her, but has no idea who she actually is.

My two (female) flatmates are obsessed with it, so I know far more about it than I'd like.

LOVED IT! I liked that they bumped up the ages of most of the younger characters - it'd be hard to believe Bran is 7 with that actor, and I imagine it's hard to find a 7-year old actor who could pull off that level of acting. I'm not sure if that age boost applies to Dany (she's what, 13 in the books? 16 would be a bit more appropriate for international television I think). I don't think Dany needed to be QUITE so naked all the time (and I count wearing see-through clothes!), but her dress at the wedding was super pretty which made up for it.

Anyways, it was super great!

I kinda love it when D'rek unleashes her nerd wrath, as I knew she would here. Sorry innocent bystanders, but someone's gotta be the kindling.

I love the detail of the appropriate corresponding heraldry beside the names of each of the players, too.

Except for the Starks whose sygil is a direwolf and not a direwolf's head . But that's just quibbling.

Just watched and I am satisfied. All three Lannisters were great,IMO, Sean Benn was good too and Viserys was suitably creepy. Also, Theon is a dick.

Also, while he could perhaps have been more hideous and less cute, Tyrion was otherwise perfect.

Am I the only one that is a little peeved that they cut out some of the best lines in the book? I'm talking about Brann and Ned's conversation after the beheading, when Ned explains why he had to swing the sword himself and Brann asking if a man can be brave when he's afraid. And then between Jon and Tyrion during the feast, 'Not all bastards need be dwarves'. I think that one actually bothered me more because they said the first half of it and then just left it hanging.

My other quibble is why weren't the Others white? I know they only gave us a quick glimpse of them, but they looked black.

Overall I thought it was very good, didn't really get much more than a cursory glance at any storyline but that seems to make sense for the pilot.
So, you're the historian who survived the Chain of Dogs.
Actually, I didn't.

It seems you stand alone.
It was ever thus.

That was sweet! Perfect start! Nice cliffhanger in the end (no pun intended).

Just missed the first half of the before show interview since mum felt this was the time to talk loudly on the phone in the living room. She has since been banished.

As much as I've been looking forward to this, I was slightly underwhelmed. I think somewhere along the line, I forgot that I never really cared for the story in ASOIAF, especially the Daenerys arc. I actually kind of wanted to fast forward through the Dothraki sections while I was watching. On the other hand, I thought pretty much the entire Stark family was spot on and just brilliantly acted, overall.

And I know I'm in a minority on this point, but I don't really care for the "HBO quota" of sex and nudity; it just doesn't do anything for me and feels like a waste of screentime in a lot of the cases, when they were clearly struggling to fit stuff into this episode.

And, you know, I might just be slightly bitter that it wasn't Gardens of the Moon I was watching the opening to...

Still, it beats out Camelot by a wide margin, which... isn't exactly saying much, but still. I'll definitely be watching next week.
These glories we have raised... they shall not stand.

Well, I thought that was pretty much awesome, especially for a first episode. I'm particularly impressed with the kids they chose for the various roles. Arya was particularly amusing in her mannerisms and I think I will dislike Sansa a whole lot less than I do in the books - she's one of the PoVs I usually scan through. Geoffrey is perfectly cast, too. Caithlin Stark was homelier than I pictured her... she'd have been a better Lisa, I think.

Daenerys... one of my favorite PoVs and I won't mind seeing this particular actress for the next couple of seasons. However, of them all, I'm probably most pleased with Tyrion.
