I am absolutely gutted that I am not living at home in Belfast right now... and that I gave up horseriding all the those years ago.... to miss out on a casting call to be an extra in a fantasy show that is being filmed in my old backyard.... I may have to cry myself to sleep.
Trust me, I'm a doctor.

Liftingfaces updated their picture and cast list with some of the new castmembers: Bronson Webb as Will, Jamie Campbell Bower as Ser Waymar Royce, Richard Ridings as Gared and so on. I updated the relevant post here.
Filming starts in two weeks. There was a big casting readthrough today which was apparently a big success.

15. Iain Glen as Ser Jorah Mormont
hmm, immediate reaction to the picture was that this gut would be perfect to play the Hound.
But he has the look to manager Jorah as well

Can ride is the first sticking point, I haven't been on a horse in quite a few years, while I own and spoil a small one I have little time for the beasts.
Likely going to be in fucking inverness from monday for a few months is the next problem.
I suffer from crippling shyness might not help either

From "I only have a small pony and don't really know how to ride and am shy" to "I could play Drogo." Drogo, the horse lord. The feared and fearless master of thousands. The ruthless killing machine...
Wait, did Drogo have big hands? I can't remember...

Ivan Drogo. He must break you.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Drogo was the barbarian chief who married Dany in exchange of his army to reconquer Westeros

All of the * actors on the list above are now confirmed by HBO. Sweet.
Ian McNeice is a great choice as Ilyrio. Loved him as the news announcer in Rome where he'd stand in the square and relate the big news of the day to the passing crowds. I believe it's true that they had to stand out in the rain and do it as well (as a technicality so the news would still have been 'officially announced', even if there was no-one to hear it!).
