So, 2 Spoiler Heavens. One normal, one "Beyond". Seems a bit like a kind of time-travel, terminator type scenario. They find out what night action is being used and can send someone back to do something about it, I wonder?
Now, now, that's Heroes type of thinking.
Sooooo Mafia 33.

time travel is an impossibility and will not be included in this game. if anyone has any questions feel free to pm the mods. Spoilers are also welcome, and i encourage everyone to send them.

Ok, Im back. Good to see the standard day one joking around is well under way.
The cult and the possessed are not the same faction. Currently there are no possessed, since noone has died yet. from what I understand, if certain events take place, the players in the beyond are allowed to vote for one player to come back to life and take over the alt of someone who is still alive. Hence my question about 'possession event'. I suppose 'trigger' would be a better word. Has anyone who has read the books got any idea as to what sort of thing would trigger possession? Someone specific dying? x number of people in spoilers?

Knowing Dibs and Bent the trigger will probably be if the game slows down, or if they happen to be bored that day, or cause it will fuck with more people at that time.

In the books normal people are tortured to such an extent that they let themselves become possessed in order to stop the pain.
The possessed then take over control of the body and suppress the original persons conscience.

Ah, OK, so there's no "possessors" then. It's a trigger event.
Wonder what it is, and if it is player-controled or mods cosmic joke-controled

Who tortures them? And are they tortured in order to force possession on them or is it unrelated?

So what would tha be in game terms? Someone get's nk and healed? I doubt there's a 'torturer' role. Also, I asked PS what an Ivet was and if they were cult, and if the camo people were killers. He replied that the Ivet are the killers and the camo people (Camilla and someone) are the cult.
@Tennes - That's equally likely

@Galain - I dont thin it's anything anyone 'chooses' to do, since noone wants an extra faction in the game. I think there's several scenarios that might result in the dead taking over an alt, but have no idea what any of them might be.

One thing I don't get about the possession and people coming back thing. If someone who dies, then comes back, why wouldn't we lynch them for being dead then coming back to life? I mean isn't it going to be obvious if someone has been possessed or returned or is there something else going on? Like all this possesion happening in the Beyond?
Anyway off for the night, maybe someone whose read the books may have a clue without giving away Spoilers?

I think the Dead act kinda like Faceless Men. They die but can possess ANOTHER alt.
Edit: and of course we won't know if that happens.

A question - are the Ivet telepathic? The way I see it, we have two (or one maybe) people in the cult at this point. If there's two they can talk off thread. There's three Ivets. Dunno if that's three killers, or one killer and two symps.

Do you think they get to choose an alt? Or do they posses whoever is specified by the trigger? I think being able to choose an alt would be a little too powerful.

Well IF it is a triggered event then the dead wouldn't be able to choose a role they would just have to decided which one of them were going to go into the available person. The question should be what is the trigger event? With all of the planing that Dibs has put into this game I seriously doubt that he would just give away his little ace in the whole.

I suspect a certain alt will be chosen through game mechanics we haven't been informed about.
Or maybe DiBs will just pick whoever's gonna mess with our heads most

Well, the possessed tortured people in order to make them let the dead in from the beyond.
The very first possession happened when someone was tortured to death, and the person doing the torturing got possessed because there was an alien entity that got too close and it all somehow opened a gateway to the beyond...from there it started spreading.
So it could be a direct by product resulting from the killers killing.

Well someone said in the books it's torture. Are there any other scenarios in which possession occurs? what would count as torture in a mafia game? Hitting L-1 but surviving? being hit by an NK and surviving?

I dont see it happening that way. The killers getting possessed after their first kill seems a little unfair. Unless it's meant to turn into a town vs 2 cult game very early.

Ok...well from the opening post there are three clear "teams" to begin with.
There is Camilla, she is could also be the cult. these guys are renegade Edenist and if i remember correctly they do look to recruit people. Laton is there leader.
Then there is Quin, this is one bad mutha fucker. He is the guy that triggers the first possesion to come into being.
His personality is so strong that he suppresses the consciousness of the "spirit" that is possessing him, which gives him the possessor's super natuaral powers while not actually being possessed himself.
So in fact the guy that does the initial killing/torture and caused the first possessed to come into being, in a sense doesnt actually become possessed, well not for very long in any case.
Anyways...these guys are like satanists and therefore could also be considered a cult. As Quinn regularly recruits people aswell.
And then there is joshua calvert and co. that is the town.
