@HP: You have it backwards, Laton was using Camilla's eyes!

Its part of being an Edenist, they link telepathically using a symbiote of some kind and in Laton's case its a special relationship where he has control over his clones/children

Got it. Reading comprehension -23 Thanks

Quinn watched as the towns folk grabbed another Ivet, he couldnt tell who it was from this distance and with the failing light, but the orange jump suit was unmistakable. The other two, all that remained of his sect in the Ivets, where crouched behind him. Their serpent beast had taken full control over them, and instead of fear their felt empowered by the slaughter, for they were not weak like the others. The townsolf that hunted them had numerical advantage yes, but they were skilled killers, well practiced in deciet and murder. Quinn had taught them well.

I would think 3 killers no symps.

Also, it seems Camilla is the Cult, I believe she was just using Laton's eyes to see through. Is it possible She might have something to do with possesion?

Missed that, thanks ;) So it seems to me the role distribution is pretty clear. The next question is, who do we want to go after first - potential killers or potential cultists?

Id guess cult.
Cults grow.

Although if all the killers die, and it only recruits the dead(who come back) then cult surely loses too?
Didnt diBs tell people to think of the possessed as FM, basically?
Can they kill?

Edit: Got to go. Back some time. Argh.

I am out as well.

On a side note, I now have more posts as Hood's Path than Hood's Path in Mafia 31 so I feel thats a moral victory. Ciao

Right now I feel the need to actually read the book before even playing, there's too much I am confused about, but I assume I will have to rely on you guys that know stuff about the story. ;)
I am wondering about winning conditions for the cult etc. Do we go after the killers or the cult first?

The cult and the possessed are two different teams. DiBs FM analogy was pretty accurate. Once you've died, there is a possibility you can came back to life by taking over someone else's body. The mechanics surrounding this are still unknown. In the mean time, the cult are presumably recruiting people.

I think it's a pretty tough decision. Going after the cult is dangerous. They'll be harder to hit, and three killers will be pretty hard to take out late game. The killers being around means lots of dead, which will probably increase the chances of a possession. In the same breath. Catching all three killers will be quite difficult and if we take too long the cult gets too big. Sigh.

... wait, this almost seems like you can win by losing.

That is, if you're stuck in a powerless role you don't like, just get yourself killed, and come back as something more ... interesting.

And given that Josh and Co. are outsiders, I wonder if they're actually part of the Town in-game, or their own faction.

from the sign-up thread:

Quote

Winning Conditions
-------------------------------

Innos - to remove all none innos from play by lynch, night kill or depossession

Killers - Gain a majority over the game

Cult - Gain majority over the game

(Possessed) - Take complete control over the game eliminating all non possessed or gaining a position where this is assured.

Note - Upon death players will remain as members of their previous team unless voted back into the game as a possessed. Their winning condition will change to that of the possessed unless a prior conditions overrules that.

I say we want Cult gone first, b/c they can recruit.

WOA! I completely missed that.

Then there's your trigger, people. Once dead you keep playing and voting, except this time you vote to send players back in the game? WTF?

Yes but the question that Ruse and I asked was what could a trigger be on who gets possessed. I can't imagine that it is a random event or that the dead get to pick anyone they want.

old joke is old
yes, DiBs has mentond on several occasions that dead players go to "heaven" (not to be confused with SH), where they continue playing, against other dead people. and it is the dead that vote on sending some of them back to "posess" other alts.
how exactly that will work is a mystery to me, and I don't intend to worry about it till I'm dead
for now, us the living should focus on rooting out the living scum--killers and cults alike.

I also am of the opinion that we can't really worry about the specifics until something actually happens. We need to decide who to go after first - it's not obvious to me who we should go after first, killers or cult.

Helpful Hints to be considered before playing.

1 -If you have a night action, please remember that all night actions will be posted within the beyond and so countless changes reduce the amount of players who could be taking that action. One per day is a sensible number, it also makes modding much easier.

2 - Please do not pm me spoilers that may damage your own faction they may be posted by mistake.

3 - Feel free to post me pms that people will think have harmed your faction but do anything but... (Lying to confuse the dead is a recommended tactic)

4 - The cult are not the possessed. Their pm's will not reach the beyond.

5 - For players with night actions, caution is the better part of valour.

12 - The beyond is where the people lynched or subject to a night kill go. Once a player has died they may return if chosen from the ranks of the beyond.

It looks like to me, once you get 2 or more dead people they can vote on who goes back. Based on what Dibs says about NA's going to the beyond and using it to hurt/help your faction I would hazard a guess that they can in fact choose who they possess. (though probably leaders like Quinn and Joshua are immune to possesion).

I wonder if you get possessed do you go to the beyond? Or are you dead forever. I would think, dead forever.

EDIT Forgot to comment on #4. So it also looks like Cult can communicate off thread? Or does that just mean that the people in the beyond are unable to see who is giving orders to recruit? *confusion sets in*

OK maybe I can shed a little light on the beyond and how it affects you

Spoiler

The scene Dibs put up was just before the alien presence (the light the priest saw), decided to follow a soul to see where it went, this happens during one of Quinn's rituals and allows the first possessed to come through.

Now as I see it, when you get to the beyond, unless you are special, like maybe Ione and Joshua who are likely to just skip the beyond, it then becomes a popularity contest to see who gets back in. I also reckon that Quinn and co. will be the ones that allow the possessed to come through.

P.s. when I say the beyond is cold, isolated,... I mean that in the sense that there is no sensation, you have consciousness and a craving for warmth (Emotional energy) and thats it.

Edit: added the spoiler tags.
