I don't think Stover advocates for any particular government style - just the demolition of corporate rule and destruction of the caste system.
Also, go wrestle instead of hitting people. Iranian wrestling is some of my favorite stuff to watch, especially Reza Yazdani with his step on foot single legs.

It's kind of difficult to put a solid interpretation on Stover's views on gov and so on. It comes up in the later books too.
Just take from it what you will but don't overthink it, because just when you think you get it he'll subvert what you thought.

I've always been under the impression that Stover wants you to figure out what you want, rather than figure out what he wants.
"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

Well, I agree with you on this point, but there have been sections in the books where he metaphorically pisses on the concept of social justice, don't know what to think of that.

Speculating, but if think it ties to the failure of the weak to actually work to gain what they want. The corollary being that those who gain what they want at the expense of others aren't worthy of getting what they want. Which is part of Caine's problem after a long history of doing just that.

So I started Blade of Tyshalle, and I'm enjoying it quite a bit but I have a question for those who have a physical copy.
Those snippets between chapters...are they meant to be at the beginning of a chapter or the end of it? Just wondering if when I set the book aside at the end of a chapter, should I read that bit or save it until I pick the book back up again. How do they appear in a physical copy?

I will wait until this one comes out in pb though before I get it as my other two are pb's.
It's already out in trade (large) paperback.

Yeah, the Look Inside feature generally lets you preview the majority of the book, with the occasional section of chapter left FUCKING missing, and usually the ending is omitted too. I read the Caine's Law "prologue" (I guess you would call it) but as soon as I saw the "pages 10-12 are not included in this preview" I was content to stop. FUCK.
Three weeks from today; I can hardly FUCKING wait.

That was the device Raith used to torture Caine, right?
