That was pretty ridiculous. Level 50 pretty much doubled my time.
I tried Hard Level 1 a half dozen times or so, missed the end by about a centimeter. Forget that.

"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

This is my best run ever. And by ever I mean I did this five minutes ago after I saw you guys postin' your results.
giveuprobotspeedrun.png

says 8 minutes you liar!!!
I meant that I finished the run five minutes before I posted the screen shot. From a lot of the feedback I've seen on other forums and comments, it takes people before 40 minutes and an hour to finish the first time. Then they get a lot closer to 10 minutes. It's crazy. Someone even posted all 50 Normal levels on YouTube.

So, did you ever get the urge to play Super Mario Brothers with Samus? How about Link, Simon Belmont, Mega Man or one of the guys from Contra? If you have, or even if you haven't, you can now! I got this in my e-mail the other day: Super Mario Bros Crossover! Apparently they ported in those characters, complete with their respective weapons (but not all iterations of said weapons I would guess), to wreak havoc on all the little Koopas and turtle-shelled geese (whatever the hell they're called). I played a little bit of it as Belmont the other day and was quite amused with whipping everything in sight...

I've been playing this game for ages: Gemcraft. It's a fairly standard tower defence game, but your towers fire magic bolts of various elements, and these can be combined. It's loads of fun!
And of course, it was found via http://jayisgames.com/, the home of Flash and casual gaming on the web.

Trick is to up your mana pool sufficiently early on, and then make sure that when the last boss comes around, you have enough mana to allow him through at least two trips. You should be able to kill him by the end of the second trip.

Two trips? He got to the village at the end and that was it, how does he come through again?

Things getting to the village isn' necessarily instant death; they go around again, but knock your mana down a bit. However, I found with the big boss he takes off so much mana, you lose straight away even with around 3000.
My tactic for that level was having a couple of clusters of towers with trenchs on the roads nearby, and high level gems(rather than lots of lower ones). Then, as soon as he gets out of range of the first cluster, you move all your gems to the next one. I had one larger cluster of towers near the start(ofc you want them to be in the best places to hit for the longest amount of time) a few dotted along the middle(iirc you start with a couple there) and another large cluster near the end.

I should probably point out that the Gemcraft page on JayIsGames.com (like the page for all games on the site) has a comments section where people talk about strategies for completing it, particularly difficult levels, and often has a walkthrough.
Have you uncovered the secret levels yet? (Get all glowing frame scores to reveal secret levels)
Edit: Just discovered on JayisGames that there's a sequel!

Gem of Eternity... SOOOOO long. I finished the first gemcraft in no time, without much effort. Christ the sequel takes forever. So addictive though
