I just saw that exact same thing on the People's Court. The buyer even drove out (like a 3 hour drive) and when he got there, the item was already sold. So he sued, but he lost, because there was technically no formal agreement.

Yeah, my main gripe was that he never even had the decency to offer me the chance to buy it on the friday, before giving the other person directions to the house (I could probably have collected it before doing the voluntary work). But c'est la vie. And i didn't waste any money on it. Really wanted to set up a native irish marine tank again.

And now i just saw something else i've been waiting for for a while, which is a dog. We had to have our old family pet put down before christmas, and I want to get a new dog for my mother as a bit of a companion, and as a guard dog. But it's still a tough subject to mention as we're still getting used to things in the house since my father passed away in February. I know she'd love the dog if i got it, but it's such a commitment i couldn't just go and get it without her agreeing to it. And i know i'm biased since i'd love there to be a dog around the house again. I'll see if i can bring it up again this evening.

Sorry to hear about that, Rodeo :headbang:

On an a lot less important note: why do strange people keep randomly messaging me and expecting to be entertained? And then are all touchy when I tell them if they have no reason to talk to me I've got other things to do? :)

Shit Rodeo, that is not what you expect to hear when you show up to work in the morning.

Me? I'm still in a funk. Drinking Manhattan's and watching Officer and a Gentleman like a middle aged harpy.

I have probably already moaned about having to speak at a conference about something I know nothing about. Well, the conference is tomorrow. I wrote my slides on Thursday on top of loads of other work and sent them to the commercial director of our business to check I hadn't disclosed any company secrets or anything. He re-wrote the entire thing - including changing the title of the presentation AND my title, talk about a pedant. He also made it read like a sales pitch. The conference organisers gave me the title so I need to change that back and the new content he added doesn't fit the theme at all. OK, annoying enough that I'm spending my Sunday cleaning up his mess but he's a really prickly bastard so tomorrow morning when I should be running through what I'm going to say, I'm going to have to be embroiled in internal politics dealing with a prima donna instead. He gave me a right bollocking by email last week and Cc'ed loads of senior people into it so he was already on my list. Hates him we do precious :headbang:

My goddamned laptop seems to decide at random whether or not it will connect to the internet. 9 times out of 10, no problem. Then, it flat out refuses, even though it can detect the wireless signal from my router, which is at max strength. Even when I carry the damn thing upstairs and put it RIGHT NEXT to the fkin router, it still says 'cannot be connected.'

How can technology be so awesome and so shit at the same time?
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

AND. Does anyone else think it's weird for someone else to come round to your house, and just decide to go outside and mow your lawn for you because they feel like it?

Well, my brother in law obviously thinks its ok. We had a load of in-laws round, and he just decided that he would go cut the grass, which didn't really need doing anyway, which has pissed me off somewhat, admittedly more than it should.

Most people would probably quite like something like this to happen, as it saves them the job, but at the moment I'm working long hours, and when I'm not, I'm looking after a two year old all day. So things like grass cutting are the only chance I get to actually get outside and do something, that doesnt involve swings, slides and kiddie things.

And its my garden for fucks sake, he didn't even ask.

I think I'm going a bit crazy - no time to myself apart from a couple of hours in the evening is driving me as batshit as getting no sleep does.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

I had a PC in the mid-2000s that would require me to uninstall and reinstall the software for my wireless adapter nearly every time I booted. Including manually installing 3 or 4 specific files from the disc that its own installation software couldn't find, so I had those specific paths memorized. It was such a stupid hassle.

In my defense, the glimmer of hope began to fade in about the 20th minute of extra time when I realised it was going to penalties...

I fell asleep at the train station today waiting for it to arrive, missed it, and the next one. And the next one. And the next one. And the next one. I was asleep for almost 3 hours and nobody woke me, bothered me, or anything.

You may still want to have an STD test conducted.

That you know of. Afterall, you did sleep through the noise of a train station. Who's to say what else you slept through?

Yes, you'd think that people that are so monumentaly overpaid to do nothing but play football for their entire lives might have actually got one at least one ball between the posts :headbang:

(I left the room before extra time, as i was absolutely certain about how it was going to go from there. I returned to see Italy celebrating, surprise!))
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

So not only haven't I slept for over 27 hours but I've finally hit the same stage of joint pain my sister and fellow Ehler-Danlos syndrome sufferer has dealt with for half a decade and holy fucking shit there is an actual dagger in my hip I literally cannot sit down fast enough

Seriously I have the tiniest range of movement in it and I'm not getting out of this chair for hours now

Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.
