X-Box not working and I have no idea why. It doesn't even switch on. Everything is plugged in correctly and all that. Not a clue what is going on, there isn't a single sign of life! Considering the last time I played it nothing went wrong with it, I'm not sure what to do! Any ideas? Is there a reset button or anything?

How long has it been dormant? My xbox broke after 3 months of no use, I think it was the dust. I got it working again by just cleaning out the inside and outside as much as possible.

^^Try this. If there was a serious problem with it you'd get red-ringed methinks.

My grandmother seems to have taken a heaping overdose of paranoia this morning, because she will NOT SHUT UP about the seeming omniscient, omnipotent, master-hacking and all-around badass Chinese government and how basically the world is at their mercy. I'm not a moron and I know that China is a massive world power but Christ she makes it sound like we're going to get murdered in our beds. Very annoying to listen to, particularly as she considers anyone who doesn't agree with her to be naive and misguided.

Ooh OK thanks, it hasn't been that long, but as far as I can tell all systems are working fine. I saw one video on YouTube that said it might be to do with the USB port or something... Will try it! Much rep coming if it works again!

I managed to break my laptop once by shoving my earphone thing in the usb port. Fixed it with a manual reset, wasn't too bad.

Or you could go along with the flow and tell her about the monopoly the Chinese have on rare earth metals. Should be able to get a few cookies out of it.

TS - when you try to turn it on is the light on the power box green, orange or no light? Could be the power cord is faulty. If the light is green but the xbox has no light when you turn it on it could be a hardware issue.

If the box is turning on but nothing else happens try turning off your tv and Xbox, remove all cords from xbox, replace all cords and turn back on.

I press the button and nothing happens. No lights. There is a light on the box of the bower cord so I know power is getting that far at least. Whether the cable between there and the console is faulty, I don't know. I may take it into a shop & see if they can fix it...

Thought I'd share last night's dream here. Was pretty weird, and I remembered more than usually, so here goes.

I go down a street at night, and I see my good friend Trent Reznor (yes, dream logic) setting fire to a car. I instantly know this is his ex's car, and that we're right next to where her new bf lives. He goes upstairs and I follow him. Dunno what happens for a bit with the bf but nothing major, then Trent fires me up with a dose of heroine I gladly take. I explicitly remember feeling 'different' in the dream while under it's influence. Trent then proceeds to perform amateur plastic surgery on my face, making it look like some of those failed surgeries with the nose being pointy and unnatural, no eyebrows, generally pretty hideous. He also says that this was his objective and he knew I'd follow him up there after I see him set fire to that car, all in a very calm voice.
I black out and a few days later 'wake up' and see the papers that it's been a considerable spree of abductions and plastic surgeries, with many other faces like mine in the picture. I remember thinking that a normal person would be locked up, but Trent's awesome and he won't. I also even started to like my new face.


Can anyone make sense of any of this?

Stop smoking soap, snorting kerosine and inhaling paint remover. Especially before going to bed.

Okay, this just messes with my groove on a "humanity" scale: This girl I work with, she's about my age and she's drop-dead gorgeous. Like the kind of girl you'd look at and think "WOW, she should be a model" right? So that's the kind of girl I'd normally think "Wow, she's got the world on a string, could have any guy she wants"...ect. Well today she's debbie downer, and starts talking about how she doesn't want kids because she can't be bothered, she doesn't think she'll ever have enough money to be comfortable, she doesn't think she'll ever find a guy who will fit her criteria, doesn't have any drive to travel, doesn't have any drive to even leave her home town...the list of downer-ness went on and on...so then I started to think "Gods, this is the reason she's single!" No dude is going to want to be with someone who is so down about the world no matter how gorgeous she is. It just kind of irks me because I think of all the really amazing girls who might not be the best looking who get totally passed over for someone like this girl (who guys will be drawn to for her looks)...and they end up with a really hot, sad bucket of despresso.

Now I am friends with this girl, but if I talk to her for longer than ten minutes I want to slit my own wrists. It's like something crushed every ounce of her spirit. It makes me thank the powers that be that I found Mrs. QT and that the majority of time she is quite upbeat and actually has hopes and dreams.

Ugh, anyways, just talked to her and another co-worker for 20 minutes and now I just feel sad for humanity.

Sounds like she might actually have clinical depression. Maybe suggest she try looking into it and help for it? It's not one of the most common illnesses in the world for nothing.
