He got back this morning. The first riots were on Saturday night. Even if he'd left it for the Met to handle on the first night he should have been back on at least Monday morning, after the second night of rioting. Presumably he had a bottle of a cheeky little chianti that he just couldn't bear to leave...

Re UK Riots: wow, just wow, one of my cousins lives in one of the areas affected, they are ok, but my aunt is freaking out entirely and telling them to move home... I hope the situation improves soon for everyone!

I saw a FB status by some little arse laughing at them taking three nights of rioting to not even destroy London and saying they managed to destroy Manchester in two hours followed up by 'we are the people' in capitals, should expect nothing less from some one who has stated the middle name as being ulster but fucking hell.

This rioting business is just depressing, even all the way over here in Aus. Also, a friend of mine has an English exchange buddy who's got family there...and is quite worried at present. It's nasty all around. :)

On a personal note, I'm feverish and just as I was beginning to feel a bit better.

And fuck off with your justified bullshit, I never even implied that. It's a cause, not an excuse.

Why jump straight to executions? Just round them up.

Duggan HAD a GUN. Got that? He had a fucking gun. The ONLY reason to HAVE a GUN is to use it. I don't care if he didn't use it in this instance or not...he fucking had one, and at some point (maybe not that day) he was likely going to fire it at someone...that someone is now safe.

And don't you DARE think that you know what happened in that situation with him...you weren't there to see who shot at whom so you have no ground for your high horse to stand on when you don't (nor do ANY of us) have the facts about what happened in that Altercation with the Trident gun squad...

the fact we DO have is that Duggan had a gun...that he was CARRYING. End of story. I read the report the IPCC released. The Met lied about the death of a man. He never fired his gun, he never even had it in his hand, it remained in the sock he'd stashed it in. The only shots fired were police bullets from police firearms. The Met's statement was released uncharacteristically early for whatever reason and the reaction to that was the trigger to this whole shebang. Again, ownership of a gun is not a licence for them to be killed offhand. Send him to prison! Convict him for years! Murder is not the first and only stop on dealing with criminals.

But Shiara's right, let's move the yelling to the appropriate place.

The IPCC haven't yet released a report, merely an interim statement. He didn't need to fire in order to justify them shooting him. If he was reaching for his gun, that would constitute a lethal threat. Wait for the actual report mayhaps?
